Most vaporizer advice assumes high-THC flower, and most devices are tuned for it. THC comes off comfortably between 180 and 210°C, so plenty of excellent vaporizers stop at 210°C and nobody minds. CBD is less cooperative. Our guide to what temperature to vape flower puts it plainly: some CBD comes off between 160 and 180°C, along with a lot of flavor, but you need temperatures around 220°C for a more complete extraction. The terpene boiling points chart lands in the same place, giving 200 to 220°C as the practical window for fuller CBD recovery.
So the first rule of this list is simple: every pick reaches at least 220°C. The second rule comes from how people actually use hemp flower. It is generally cheaper per gram than THC flower and CBD is non-intoxicating, so people tend to vape more of it, in bigger sittings, often spread over a whole evening. That shifts what matters. Chamber size, balloon and whip delivery, dosing capsules and easy reloading count for more than squeezing every last bit out of a tenth of a gram. The third thing nobody warns you about: hemp smells exactly like cannabis, which matters if you vape anywhere other than at home.
A quick note before the picks. This page is about hardware, not health. Nothing here is medical advice, and we make no claims about what CBD does for you.
Every device below reaches at least 220°C in our catalog spec sheets, so the full CBD window is available. We then ranked on how much flower each one handles comfortably, how it delivers vapor (balloon, whip, stem or water pipe), and how easy it is to reload through a long session. Prices are approximate street prices; the device cards above and the device pages show today's lowest price from the stores we track.

If you vape CBD flower at home, the Arizer Extreme Q is the device we would start with. It is a convection desktop that goes all the way to 260°C, so reaching 220°C is never a stretch, and its glass bowl holds around 0.7g. A three-speed fan fills a balloon or assists a whip draw, and Arizer's own advice suits hemp well: 180 to 200°C with higher fan speeds for smoother, more flavorful vapor, 200 to 220°C with lower speeds for something thicker. It takes about 100 seconds to heat and comes with a remote. Around $160 to $200, it costs a fraction of a Volcano, and it is one of the easiest vaporizers to clean thanks to its all-glass parts.
The Arizer XQ2 is the Extreme Q's successor, and its party trick suits CBD flower perfectly. The glass connoisseur bowl is two-sided: the larger cloud side takes around 1.5g, and the smaller flavor side handles normal personal loads. Our review found it tends to need a little more heat than other devices because of the gap between the heater and the material, which is no problem with a 260°C ceiling. It comes with balloon bags and a whip, and around $220 to $270. Our Extreme Q vs XQ2 comparison shows exactly what the extra money buys.
The Volcano Hybrid reaches 230°C, holds about 0.6g in its filling chamber and remains the benchmark for balloon vaping. Storz & Bickel say a load can be run again until nothing more comes off, regrinding between balloons. That suits a temperature-stepping approach to hemp very well, and a separately sold Dosing Capsule Adapter lets you preload sessions. At around $699 it is a serious purchase, but it is built to last for many years. Our Volcano Hybrid accessories guide covers the balloons and spares it will need.
The Arizer Solo 3 is our favorite portable for hemp flower, mostly because of its battery. About three hours per charge means a long evening of CBD sessions without a cable, and the hybrid heater reaches 220°C through an all-glass path that keeps the flavor clean. The 0.1 to 0.2g stem is modest, but reloading a glass stem takes seconds. The April 2025 v2 revision added USB-C PD fast charging and adjustable On Demand presets. Around $300, often seen for less.
The DaVinci IQ3 has a large conduction oven of about 0.7g, which makes sense for CBD flower in a way it does not for expensive THC flower. You can load a full oven, use the Smart Paths to step from flavor temperatures up to the 221°C ceiling, and get a long session from one fill. The zirconia and glass airpath keeps the vapor cool, and the removable 21700 lasts about 90 minutes. Around $299.
The Boundless CFX+ is a lot of chamber for the money. It holds 0.3 to 0.5g, reaches 221°C and cools the vapor through a zirconia airpath. Our review found at least an hour per charge and a tighter, conduction-style draw. It sold for about $127 direct from Boundless in our latest scrape, which makes it the cheapest big-oven portable here.
The POTV Lobo reaches 221°C and comes with a dosing capsule in the box, which is the best friend of anyone vaping a lot of hemp: fill a few capsules at the start of the evening and each reload takes seconds. The 0.2g titanium chamber, swappable 3500mAh 18650 (roughly ten sessions) and two-year warranty make it a sensible all-rounder. Around $160.
The cheapest device on the list, the XMAX V3 Pro, still covers the full CBD range from 100 to 220°C, and it is one of the cheapest ways to reach 220°C at all. The chamber is small at 0.1 to 0.15g, so it suits shorter hemp sessions or people who want to try CBD flower before spending more. Around $89 to $110, with a swappable 18650. Our review has the details.
The Healthy Rips Rogue 2 reaches 221°C through convection, with a titanium chamber that holds up to 0.225g and a glass vapor path. A dosing capsule comes in the box, along with two glass cooling stems. The internal 3000mAh battery gives 80 to 100 minutes. At around $139 direct it is the best-tasting option under $150.
The Tinymight 2 has the highest ceiling of any portable here, at 250°C in on-demand mode and 230°C in session mode. Its chamber sits inside the glass stem, and sliding the cooling unit changes the volume, so it scales from a single draw to a decent load. Stick with Tinymight's own capsules, because the maker warns that third-party ones can push the screen onto the heater. Around $349 with swappable 18650 cells.
A DynaVap reaches CBD temperatures without any settings at all. DynaVap puts the click of the Dynavap The M 7 XL at roughly 240°C, give or take 10 degrees, so the full CBD window is covered every heat cycle. The 0.1g bowl is small, but at about $93 to $109 with no battery it is the cheapest way to enjoy hemp flower anywhere. The XL adds a longer, cooler path than the standard M 7. Our guide on how to use a DynaVap covers the heating technique, and DynaVap vs electric vaporizers explains how a click compares with a thermostat.
The Tempest 2 from Mad Heaters is the hand-held ball vape: a titanium cap packed with 3mm zirconia balls that you heat for 30 to 45 seconds with a torch, or around 35 to 40 seconds on a YLL 3.0 induction heater, then draw through. The balls hold far more heat than a DynaVap tip, so a single cycle fully extracts the adjustable 0.1 to 0.2g bowl, and the heat sits well above the 220°C hemp flower needs. That is exactly what you want from cheap flower: pack it, heat it once, clear the bowl in a couple of long draws, repack. It runs direct or on a water pipe, has nothing to charge, and costs about $179, which is less than most of the electric portables above it. Mad Heaters' advice of long, slow draws with the air hole covered applies doubly with hemp.
The Universal Baller runs far above anything else here, from 400 to 610°F, with 1000 ruby balls storing the heat. Hemp extraction in one heavy draw is easy. It suits people who already vape through a water pipe and want maximum density from every load. Around $450 to $500. Our guide to what a ball vape is explains how it works.
Start low, finish high. Begin around 180°C, where the terpenes and much of the flavor come off, then step up through 200°C and finish the load at 210 to 220°C to pull the rest of the CBD. On a portable that means a few degrees every couple of draws. On a balloon device it is even easier: fill one bag around 180 to 190°C for flavor, then a second one at 210 to 220°C for a fuller extraction. On the Extreme Q and XQ2, which go to 260°C, stay at or below about 220°C for flower, because the terpene chart puts the start of combustion at around 230°C.
Two other things help more than people expect. Flower that is too dry or ground too fine scorches quickly at these temperatures, so our humidity guide and grind guide are worth reading. And if you mix CBD and THC flower, our flower blending calculator works out the ratio for you. You can see what each temperature leaves behind with our vaporization temperature tool.
They work. The Mighty+ and Venty are excellent flower vaporizers, and the Crafty+ is in the same family, but all three stop at 210°C. That is enough for most of the flavor and a good share of the CBD. If you already own one, run the load twice, or run it longer at 210°C, rather than buying something new. If you are buying a device mainly for hemp, though, pick one that reaches 220°C. For the same reason we left out the Plenty, capped at 202°C, and the PAX Plus, whose top mode sits at 215°C.
Vapor smells far less than smoke, but CBD flower is still cannabis, and the aroma is the same. Our guide on whether dry herb vaporizers smell covers how to keep it down. If you travel with hemp, remember that a neighbor, landlord or airport official cannot tell it from THC flower by smell, and rules vary a lot between places. Read our traveling with your vaporizer guide before you pack.
For home use, the Arizer Extreme Q is the value pick, the XQ2 handles the biggest loads, and the Volcano Hybrid is the one to buy once and keep for a decade. For a portable, the Solo 3 has the battery for long evenings, the IQ3 and CFX+ have the big ovens, and the Lobo and Rogue 2 make reloading easy with dosing capsules. On a tight budget, the XMAX V3 Pro reaches 220°C for under $100. If you want hemp on the go with no charging, the M 7 XL is the cheap route and the Tempest 2 clears bigger bowls faster.

What temperature should you vape CBD flower at?
Start around 180°C for flavor and work up to 210 to 220°C to extract more of the CBD. Our guide to what temperature to vape flower says temperatures around 220°C are typically needed for a more complete CBD vaporization.
Can you use a regular dry herb vaporizer for CBD flower?
Yes. Any dry herb vaporizer will vaporize hemp flower. The difference is efficiency: devices that stop at 210°C leave more CBD behind unless you run the load longer or twice, which is why every pick here reaches at least 220°C.
What is the best desktop vaporizer for CBD flower?
The Arizer Extreme Q for value, at around $160 to $200 with a 260°C ceiling and balloon or whip delivery. The XQ2 takes bigger loads, and the Volcano Hybrid is the premium balloon pick.
What is the best portable vaporizer for CBD flower?
The Arizer Solo 3, for its 220°C ceiling, all-glass flavor and roughly three hours of battery. If you want a bigger chamber, the DaVinci IQ3 (about 0.7g) and Boundless CFX+ (0.3 to 0.5g) both reach 221°C.
Does vaporized CBD flower smell like weed?
Yes. Hemp and THC flower come from the same plant, share its terpenes and smell essentially the same, though vapor is much milder than smoke and fades faster.
Can you mix CBD flower and THC flower in a vaporizer?
Yes, and many people do. Load the blend, start around 180°C and finish near 220°C so the CBD comes through. Our flower blending calculator helps you work out a ratio.
