PAX Plus

PAX Plus Overview

PAX Plus sits between the Mini and Flow in the current lineup. It sticks with the familiar single-button control and pocketable shell but adds four experience modes that shift vapor output without fussing over exact temps. Heat-up lands under 30 seconds, and the feel sits close to the classic PAX draw but with a bit more open airflow than the earliest models. The oven takes 0.25g to 0.5g loads depending on whether you use the half-pack lid. The Complete Kit includes a concentrate insert, so waxy material is an option on the Boost mode, though flower remains its strong suit.

How It Heats and Operates

PAX Plus uses conduction heating with four preset Experience Modes shown by the petal LEDs: Stealth (light vapor, dim lights), Efficiency (balanced extraction), Flavor (cooler hits that stretch taste), and Boost (hotter and denser, also suited for the concentrate insert). Lip sensing and motion detection throttle the heater between pulls, and heat-up is usually under half a minute from cold.

Battery and Charging

An internal 3300mAh battery is rated for a little over two hours on the lower modes. Charging happens through the magnetic dock with a USB cable and typically takes around two and a half hours from empty. Shake the device to check level; the petals use four segments to show remaining charge.

PAX Plus FAQs

What are the four Experience Modes on the PAX Plus?

Stealth lights one purple petal and keeps vapor, LEDs and vibration low. Efficiency shows two teal petals and conserves material. Flavor lights three yellow. Boost turns all four red for the most vapor, the mode PAX pairs with the concentrate insert.

Does the PAX Plus work with the PAX app?

No. Control sits on the device, so there is no pairing, no firmware updates and no custom temperatures of the kind the PAX 3 sets through its app. Rotating the device in your hands dims or brightens the LEDs.

How much concentrate goes in the PAX Plus insert?

PAX asks for 10 to 20 milligrams, roughly a lentil, run on Boost. Store the insert outside the oven rather than leaving it in. If one seizes in place, heat for three seconds at most, power off, then ease it out with a wooden chopstick.

Does the ten year warranty cover the concentrate insert?

No. It covers the PAX Plus device alone, runs from retail purchase by the original owner and does not transfer. Accessories, the concentrate adaptor, damage caused by concentrates or waxes, and normal battery degradation all sit outside it.

How much flower does the PAX Plus oven hold?

PAX quotes about 0.35 to 0.5 grams with the standard lid and 0.17 to 0.25 grams with the deeper half pack lid. Either way, pack tightly to the brim: void space in a conduction oven costs vapor.

Can you use the PAX Plus with a bong?

Yes. PAX sells a water pipe adapter listed for the PAX Plus and PAX Mini that replaces the bowl and takes 14mm or 18mm glass. More in our guide to dry herb vaping with a water pipe.

Why is my PAX Plus not charging properly?

Check the power source. PAX suggests a computer USB port over a wall plug, rated to supply 1.5A. Charging is also limited to between 0C and 35C. Shake the device while on to read the level: each solid petal is 25 percent.

PAX Plus Cleaning & Maintenance

PAX Plus draws vapor from a laser welded stainless steel oven at the base of the body, up a sealed internal tube, and out through whichever mouthpiece is fitted. That tube and the recess the mouthpiece seats into collect residue first, and because pressing the mouthpiece is how you power the device on, you handle the dirtiest end of it constantly.

  1. Give it fifteen minutes: PAX asks for a full fifteen minute cooldown before the concentrate insert is touched, and the oven deserves the same wait.

  2. Clear the oven: Pull off the standard or half pack lid, empty the chamber, and sweep it out with the rounded multi-tool, which is curved so it cannot scratch the oven walls.

  3. Lift the 3D screen: The Plus uses the 3D oven screen rather than the older flat type. Press either end of it with the multi-tool to tilt it out, or pull the mouthpiece off and push the wire brush down the vapor path to pop it free.

  4. Work the vapor path: Wet a pipe cleaner with isopropyl alcohol and run it through the channel from the mouthpiece opening until it comes back clean. Follow with a cotton swab, damp rather than wet, on the top face and inside the mouthpiece recess.

  5. Soak the small parts: The 3D screen and both mouthpieces, flat and raised, can sit in a cup of isopropyl. Both lids stay out of liquid entirely, which PAX states outright, as does the body: the thin film heater and the battery sit right beneath the oven.

  6. Service the concentrate insert: The insert is machined aluminum, and PAX wants it cleaned after every session run on Boost. Its chamber lid and tank can soak, while the chamber itself responds to a pipe cleaner. Staining inside is cosmetic. The lid o-ring is a wear item sold in fives with a spare lid, and the insert should be stored outside the oven.

  7. Dry, then refit: Set one end of the screen down opposite the vapor path opening, let the other end fall over it, and press the middle with the lid or the multi-tool. Every part must be dry first. Finish with one empty heat cycle in Boost, then power off.

Wipe the charge pins with a dry swab so the magnetic dock seats cleanly, and if the petals stay dark on the dock, press the contacts in with your thumbs. The quick start guide asks for a clean every three to five oven loads. Screens are consumable, and the maintenance kit ships three of them with a wire brush. Nothing here pairs with an app, so there is no firmware side to the upkeep.
