The EQ splits into parts more easily than most rigs, which makes cleaning straightforward as long as you keep liquid away from the two things that cannot take it: the heater and the base. Oil sits in the quartz crucible, reclaim collects in the 60ml Jacuzzi bubbler, and residue builds on the contacts between the heater and the base where the connection LEDs sit.

Quick Cleaning (After Each Session)

1. Swab the crucible while it is warm: DaVinci asks for a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl worked in a circular motion after every session. Warm residue lifts, cooled residue hardens.
2. Wipe the carb cap: The zirconia cap has air injectors in it, so clear the underside before reclaim can block them.
3. Change the water: Tip the bubbler out rather than leaving used water sitting in the glass between sessions.

Deeper Cleaning (Every Few Sessions)

1. Detach the bubbler: Lift it off the base and remove the mouthpiece before doing anything else. Discard whatever liquid is in it.
2. Soak the glass: Add isopropyl and rock salt, swirl to break the reclaim loose, and leave it in a sealed bag so the mixture stays in contact with the inside. Flush thoroughly with clean water afterwards so no solvent is left.
3. Clean the contacts: Check the join between the heater and the base and wipe it with an isopropyl swab or wipe. The LEDs under the heater flash green when the connection is good again.
4. Service the crucible: Unscrew the retention ring and pull the crucible off the heater if it needs a proper clean. Seat it back on, fit the O-ring, then screw the ring down.
5. Air dry before reassembly: Every part needs to be fully dry before the next heating cycle.

Care Tips for Better Results

• Never submerge the heater or the base in liquid. Only the glass, crucible and accessories go anywhere near a soak.
• Do not leave silicone parts sitting in isopropyl for long periods.
• Never blow or exhale into the mouthpiece. It floods the base and can damage the internals.
• Fill the bubbler no more than halfway, with it off the base, using clean or distilled water.
• Load with a cold start for flavour or a hot start for stronger vapour, and avoid overfilling the crucible either way.

The EQ makes most sense for someone who wants a rig they can service themselves and control without a phone. Crucible, atomizer, bubbler and mouthpiece all detach, replacement crucibles are cheap, and the touchscreen means precision temperatures and Smart Paths are set on the device rather than through an app that may or may not still be supported in five years. The obvious catch is price. At $549 for the full Jacuzzi kit this is one of the more expensive concentrate devices on the market, and it does only one job, since DaVinci sells it as concentrates only rather than the dual use its dry herb portables offer. The heater and crucible carry a 60 day warranty against two years on the base, so the parts most likely to fail are the least covered. At 520 grams with a glass bubbler on top it is portable in the sense that it packs into the supplied case, not in the sense of a pocket device, and the desktop versus portable split is worth thinking through before buying.
