Trippy 2

The Trippy 2 is easier to clean than most devices at this price because the whole vapor path comes out. It is one long borosilicate glass tube running the length of the body, so instead of poking a brush down a fixed channel you pull the glass and soak it. The ceramic chamber and the glass screen inside the lid are the other two places resin collects.

Quick Cleaning (After Each Session)

1. Empty the chamber while it is warm: Spent material lifts out cleanly before it cools and sticks. Use the included herb tool rather than tapping the body against something hard.
2. Brush the chamber once it has cooled: The supplied brush clears the ceramic walls. Let it cool first so resin is not smeared around instead of lifted.
3. Wipe the mouthpiece straight away: A cotton bud dipped in isopropyl clears the mouthpiece while the resin is still soft and has not hardened.
4. Check the lid screen: The glass screen in the lid presses down on the herb, so it collects resin first. Clear it whenever the draw starts to tighten.

Deeper Cleaning (Every Few Sessions)

1. Do this every 5 to 10 sessions: Vapefully suggests that interval for a full strip down, which takes only a few minutes on this device.
2. Remove the glass vapor path: Take the mouthpiece off and pull the glass tube out of the body. This is the part that carries most of the condensate.
3. Soak the glass in isopropyl: Leave it as long as it needs, then rinse thoroughly with hot water and let it dry completely before refitting. Silicone parts go in for no more than 30 minutes.
4. Swab the chamber upside down: Clean the ceramic chamber with an alcohol soaked cotton bud while holding the device inverted, so no excess alcohol runs down into the heater.
5. Burn off before you load again: Run the empty chamber at 220°C for a few minutes, two or three times, to clear any remaining alcohol before the next session.

Care Tips for Better Results

• Use a medium fine grind. Too fine restricts airflow through the chamber and extracts unevenly, as our grind guide covers.
• Fill the chamber evenly and tamp gently rather than packing it down hard.
• Draw slowly for 5 to 10 seconds with a pause between pulls, so the chamber has time to recover.

The Trippy 2 is built for someone moving off smoking who wants a satisfying session rather than a device to tinker with. The chamber is large for the money at up to 0.25 grams, which is the point: Vapefully designed it around the complaint that small budget ovens leave people from a smoking background feeling short changed, so it lands well for anyone thinking about switching. The removable borosilicate glass vapor path is the standout feature, cooling the vapor properly out of the box and pulling out for cleaning, which puts it among the easier devices to keep clean. Add haptic feedback, a 2600mAh cell good for around twelve sessions and a 90 minute charge, and it covers the practical side of a budget portable better than most.

What you give up is control. Five fixed steps from 160°C to 220°C with no screen means no fine adjustment, so the temperature guide is more about picking a step than dialling in a number. Conduction also means the pack does the work: a medium fine grind, filled evenly and not compressed, as our grind guide explains. The chamber wants around 0.2 grams for good results, which makes it a poor fit for microdosing unless you fit the optional glass spacer. The battery is sealed in, vapor gets noticeably warm on the top two settings, and it is sold in Europe rather than the US, so the price here is a conversion from €69 rather than a US list price.
