Dr. Dabber Switch 2

Dr. Dabber Switch 2 Overview
The Switch 2 is Dr. Dabber's follow up to the original Switch, and it reworks both the chamber and the controls. The ceramic coated titanium cups are gone, replaced by a single 20mm quartz insert that Dr. Dabber rates at three times the volume of the old cups. Induction heating carries over, so the electronics stay out of the vapor path and there is no atomizer to buy again, but the unit now reads the insert with an internal infrared sensor rather than working the temperature out indirectly.Temperature runs from 250F to 650F. Five presets sit on the buttons, and the Dr. Dabber app opens that up to single degree steps along with six Dynamic Heating Modes, which change how the temperature moves during a hit instead of holding it flat. It is priced with the premium rigs rather than the cheaper end of the concentrate market.
Key Features & Benefits of the Dr. Dabber Switch 2
Descent is the default mode and lets the insert cool through the hold, which is closer to how a torched quartz banger behaves. Ascent climbs instead, which suits cold starts. Steady holds the set temperature the way most e-rigs do, and Hill, Valley and Custom are available in the app. Hold time is adjustable between 10 and 90 seconds, the unit vibrates and turns green when it reaches temperature, and the app keeps a dab counter and usage analytics. The chamber takes concentrates, hash and flower, though Dr. Dabber suggests the separate titanium insert for anything with plant matter in it.

What is different between the Switch 2 and the original Switch?
The Switch 2 swaps the two ceramic coated cups for one 20mm quartz insert with roughly three times the volume, adds an internal infrared temperature sensor, moves fine control into a phone app and charges over USB-C. The original Switch reaches higher, up to 780F, but only in 25 fixed steps.
What do the Dynamic Heating Modes do?
They change how the temperature behaves during the hold instead of keeping it flat. Descent cools like a torched banger and is the default. Ascent climbs, which suits cold starts. Steady holds level. Hill, Valley and Custom are set in the app, where custom curves are capped at 10 degrees per second heating.
Do I need the app to use the Switch 2?
No. Five button presets run from purple 400F to white 540F straight out of the box. The app adds single degree control between 250F and 650F, custom hold and shutoff times, light themes, analytics and firmware updates. Android gets a normal app, iOS runs it through the LabLink browser.
Which inserts fit the Switch 2?
Quartz comes in the kit. Sapphire Plus is the premium option and titanium is the one Dr. Dabber recommends for flower, hash or anything with plant matter. Inserts are not covered by warranty, and Dr. Dabber advises against torching them to clean.
How long does the Switch 2 last on a charge?
Dr. Dabber quotes up to 30 heating cycles, with a full charge taking about 60 to 90 minutes on the supplied 36W adapter. Passthrough charging works, so you can dab while it charges. Longer hold times, higher temperatures and brighter LEDs all shorten runtime.
Can I use the Switch 2 with my own glass?
Yes. The standard attachment can be swapped for the Incycler or third party pieces made to Dr. Dabber's glass blower spec. Fill water to just above the perc holes with the glass off the unit, since overfilling causes splashback into the vapor path.
Why is my Switch 2 flashing red three times?
Three red flashes indicate a unit fault, covering PCB, short circuit, open circuit and charging faults. Try a reset first by pressing the (d) button eight times and holding on the eighth for ten seconds. Our error code guide covers the wider pattern across brands.
What does the Switch 2 warranty cover?
Two years on the battery, charger and electrical components. Glass, inserts and carb caps are consumables and are excluded, as is damage from third party apps. Dr. Dabber handles claims directly, so buy from an authorised seller if you want the cover to apply.

Dr. Dabber Switch 2 Cleaning & Maintenance
Residue collects in three places on the Switch 2: inside the quartz insert, in the glazed ceramic cloud pathway that runs from the insert to the glass, and around the aluminium crown and its silicone seal. Induction heating means there are no electrical contacts under the insert to protect, so most of the work is swabbing while parts are still warm and keeping isopropyl away from the painted body.
Quick Cleaning (After Each Session)
- Swab the insert while it is warm: Use a dry cotton swab straight after the dab to soak up leftover oil, then a swab dipped in 91 percent or stronger isopropyl for anything left behind. This is the single habit that keeps flavour clean.
- Leave the insert in place: Dr. Dabber only recommends removing it when necessary. Never lift a hot insert, and never grab it by the cloud pathway holes.
- Wipe the carb cap: A swab of isopropyl on the underside stops reclaim building where the cap seals against the crown.
Deeper Cleaning (Every Few Sessions)
- Run the cleaning assist cycle: In the app settings, it warms the insert to 100 degrees for 30 seconds so residue lifts and the insert comes out easily. It does not add to the dab counter.
- Strip the top: Remove the glass attachment first, then the aluminium crown, then the insert. To free the glass, rest both hands on the crown and push up from the base of the glass with your thumbs rather than pulling on the mouthpiece.
- Clean the chamber and pathway: Swab isopropyl around the heating chamber, the glazed ceramic cloud pathway and the crown. The silicone seals on the crown and carb cap come off for cleaning, but take the crown seal off carefully to avoid damaging the magnet behind it.
- Shake the glass clean: Fill the attachment with 91 percent isopropyl and shake until the staining lifts. A tablespoon of table salt adds scrub for stubborn residue. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and air dry.
- Reassemble dry: Every part has to be fully dry before the next heating cycle.
Care Tips for Better Results
- Keep isopropyl off the outer shell, as it damages the finish. Use a damp paper towel with a little dish soap instead and keep water away from the charging port.
- Refill the glass to just above the perc holes, with the glass off the unit. More than that causes splashback.
- Dr. Dabber advises against torching inserts. They are not covered by warranty, so heat shock is on you.
- Let the unit cool for around 20 minutes after three or more back to back heating cycles.
- Charge from below 15 percent and take it off the charger once full rather than leaving it plugged in. Our battery guide covers why that matters.
Learn More About Dr. Dabber Switch 2
The Switch 2 suits someone who dabs at home, wants the rig to sit out on a table and does not want a consumable atomizer in the running costs. Induction means the coil never touches the concentrate, so the only wear part is the quartz insert, and a spare costs less than most replacement chambers. The 20mm insert takes anything from a rice grain to a full gram, which makes it one of the easier premium rigs to share with a group. Heat up is quick enough at 5 to 20 seconds that it does not break the flow of a session, and if you like chasing terpenes the low presets pair well with the numbers in our terpene boiling points chart.
The trade-offs are size, weight and the app. At 229mm tall and 726 grams this is a desktop rather than a portable device, so treat the Switch GO as the travel version rather than expecting this one to fit a bag. Single degree control, custom heating curves and the analytics only exist inside the app, and on iOS that means running it through the LabLink browser because Apple does not allow vaporizer apps in the App Store. Without a phone you still get five presets and the default Descent mode, which is enough for most sessions but not what you paid for. Charging is USB-C but Dr. Dabber asks you to use the supplied 36W adapter, so read our notes on vaporizer battery life before leaving it plugged in overnight.
