PAX FLOW Overview
The PAX Flow is the newest loose-leaf portable from PAX Labs. It keeps the familiar pocketable shape but rotates the oven sideways and opens up the airpath, giving each draw more freedom than earlier PAX units. Heat-up sits in the half-minute range and haptics confirm when it is ready. Beyond the airflow tweaks, Flow adds a hybrid heater with real-time temperature control. Four heat modes sit between 180°C and 215°C plus a Bong Mode that pushes to 225°C for use with the optional water pipe adapter.

How It Heats and Operates
Flow runs on a hybrid system that leans on conduction but boosts extraction with added convection during a draw. It uses a single button for control, cycling through four petal modes and Bong Mode. The petal modes roughly map to 180°C, 190°C, 205°C, and 215°C; Bong Mode jumps to 225°C. Expect warm-up in about 30-45 seconds with haptics once the temperature locks in.
Battery and Charging
An internal 2000mAh cell powers the device. In practice that is good for around around three sessions before you need to recharge. USB-C charging is standard and fairly quick: roughly 20 minutes to about half a charge and around 40 minutes for a full top-up.

How is the PAX Flow different from the PAX 3?
The oven moved to the back of the body behind a door that lifts off completely, and the path to the mouthpiece is one widened, accessible channel. Heating is hybrid, and charging is USB-C rather than the magnetic dock the PAX 3 uses.
Do PAX 3 or PAX Plus parts fit the PAX Flow?
Mostly no. PAX sells Flow specific screens, mouthpieces, an oven door and grip sleeve, and says those suit the Flow only. The older mouthpieces, standard screens and Half Pack Oven Lid cover the PAX 2, 3, Mini and Plus.
Should I use the flat or the raised mouthpiece?
Both ship in the box. The flat one sits flush for a lower profile, and PAX describes the raised one as unlocking the Flow's full airflow. Lifting the flat one off takes the Multi-Tool levered under its edge.
What is Bong Mode on the PAX Flow?
Bong Mode is a fifth setting beyond the four petal modes, unlocked by cycling through them twice. It disables lip sensing and holds a higher oven temperature for up to five minutes. It needs the separately sold PAX water pipe adapter, which fits 14mm or 18mm glass.
How long does the PAX Flow last on a charge?
PAX rates a full charge at roughly 30 minutes of use, and higher modes drain it faster. Shake it while powered on to check the level, as each lit petal is 25 percent. A full charge takes under 40 minutes from a source supplying 1.5A.
Does the PAX Flow connect to the PAX app?
PAX lists no app pairing for the Flow, and every setting in the quick start guide is handled on the device. Heat modes change with the button and confirm with a shake, and rotating the device sets LED brightness.
How long is the PAX Flow warranty?
Two years from purchase, plus two more if you register with PAX within 30 days. The serial number sits under the mouthpiece, along the side of the device.
PAX FLOW Cleaning & Maintenance
PAX moved the Flow's oven to the back of the body behind a door that lifts off completely, and widened the run to the mouthpiece into one open channel instead of the narrow internal tube earlier PAX portables used. Residue still forms, but on surfaces you can reach: the oven walls, the inner face of the door and the screen in the oven floor.

Give it ten minutes: PAX rates the oven and airpath as high as 230°C in use and asks for ten minutes after the last draw before you touch either. Never pull the door while the device is powered on.

Take the door off and empty the oven: Press the circle on the oven door and lift it clear of the body, then scrape the spent load out with the Multi-Tool, working the corners where packed material sticks.

Eject the oven screen: Press the round end of the screen with the Multi-Tool and it pops out of the oven. Flow screens are not the flat screens shared by the PAX 2, 3, Plus and Mini, so keep the box's three spares handy.

Soak the screen and nothing else: Fifteen minutes in a dish of isopropyl clears the mesh, and PAX's cleaning card for the Flow specifies 90 percent. The body holds the battery and the thin film heater bonded to the oven, and PAX says to stop using a device that has been immersed, so nothing else gets dunked and the Flow never goes in a dishwasher.

Swab the airpath, oven and door: Dip a cleaning swab or a paper towel in isopropyl and wipe the oven, the inside face of the door and the full length of the airpath. PAX swabs have a wooden tip for lifting hardened deposits and a soft tip for solvent. Since the channel is open end to end, one swab covers the whole run.

Lift the mouthpiece: Lever the flat mouthpiece up at its edge with the Multi-Tool, or pull the raised one off, then clean it and the seat underneath. Both are heat resistant food grade material. The mouthpiece sits over the power and control button, so a gummed seat makes button presses feel vague.

Dry, then rebuild: Leave every part until no alcohol remains before refitting the screen, door and mouthpiece. Running the Flow with either missing leaves hot metal exposed.
PAX asks for this routine every three to five sessions. Screens are a consumable and so is the oven door: a cracked or dented door should be replaced rather than used. Keep the air inlet and the USB-C port free of grit, and charge indoors between 0°C and 45°C.
