PAX Mini

PAX Mini Overview

PAX Mini offers the smallest form factor in the current Pax lineup. It keeps the familiar aluminum shell and single-button control but trims the size and weight to stay pocket-friendly at 89 grams. Heat-up is quick, roughly 22 seconds, and a shake of the device confirms the four heat modes. The oven supports both the standard lid and a half-pack lid for smaller loads. Airflow feels freer than older compact Pax models, and extraction stays consistent so long as the bowl is packed firmly against the conduction heater.

PAX Mini FAQs

How do I tell a PAX Mini 2 from the original PAX Mini?

The second Mini launched in October 2025 with "PAX Mini 2" printed above the barcode on its box. On the device, the serial number moved to the top inside wall under the mouthpiece.

What do the four heat modes on the PAX Mini do?

Only the 2025 model has them. Quick press the control button to step through purple for discreet vapor, green to stretch a load, yellow for flavor and orange for density, then shake to confirm. The original Mini has no adjustment.

Does the half pack oven lid fit the original PAX Mini?

No, the first Mini has a shallow 0.25g oven, so PAX lists the half pack lid and the concentrate insert as incompatible. The Mini 2 has a full size oven and ships with both lids.

Can the PAX Mini pair with the PAX app?

No, neither generation has Bluetooth, so there is no pairing or firmware update. Shake the device to read the battery, where each solid petal is 25 percent.

How does the PAX Mini charge?

Both use two magnetic pins on the back rather than a port. The Mini 2 cable plugs into USB-C and fills in about 90 minutes, against roughly two and a half hours on the original.

What is the difference between the flat and raised mouthpieces?

Both ship with either Mini, and the raised one opens up airflow if draws feel thin. On the original Mini the mouthpiece doubles as the power control, while the Mini 2 has a separate button.

How is the PAX Mini different from the PAX Plus?

The PAX Plus is taller and runs over two hours per charge, against 45 to 60 minutes for the Mini 2. One adapter covers both for use with glass.

What warranty does the PAX Mini come with?

Both carry a two year limited warranty that covers the original purchaser and is not transferable. Registering a Mini 2 on pax.com within 30 days adds a third year.

PAX Mini Cleaning & Maintenance

Both devices PAX sells under the Mini name foul in the same short run of stainless steel between the 3D oven screen and the mouthpiece, and the 2022 model makes it worse with a shallow oven that presses the load straight onto that screen. On that first Mini the mouthpiece doubles as the power control, so resin creeping into its seat shows up as a mushy button well before the draw ever feels tight.

  1. Wait ten minutes: PAX asks for a ten minute cool down after the last draw before anything comes apart. A 93mm body holds oven heat for a while.

  2. Clear the oven: Press down on one side of the oven lid to pop it off, then dig the spent load free with the multi-tool. The half pack lid and the concentrate insert fit the Mini 2 only, since the original oven is too shallow to take either.

  3. Lift the mouthpiece: The flat and raised mouthpieces are both food grade and pull away, though the flat one usually needs the multi-tool worked under its edge. Swab the recess it sits in, which is where the Mini 2 also carries its serial number.

  4. Floss the path: With the mouthpiece and lid off, dip the wire brush in 90 percent isopropyl and feed it down the vapor path from the top. That ejects the 3D screen from the chamber floor. Draw the brush back and forth several times to lift buildup off the tube walls.

  5. Soak the small parts: Fifteen minutes in a dish of isopropyl clears the screen, and the silicone mouthpieces can sit alongside it. PAX states that no oven lid, standard or half pack, ever goes into liquid, so those get a swab or a paper towel dampened with alcohol instead.

  6. Detail the oven and top face: Take the same swab over the inside of the oven and across the top face of the body. Leave the two magnetic charge pins on the back dry; a fouled contact is a common reason a Mini will not light up when it is placed on its charger.

  7. Dry, then cycle: Reassemble once every part is fully dry, then bring the device up to temperature on an empty oven and power it off.

PAX puts this at every three to five sessions. Neither generation has Bluetooth or app support, so nothing here is a firmware problem. Screens are the only consumable: press the round end of a stubbornly dark one with the multi-tool to eject it. Charge between 0 and 35 degrees Celsius, and never leave the device charging in a car.
