Verb DHV

The Verb DHV has an unusually short air path, so almost everything it produces condenses within an inch of the oven. The metal filter held by a screw inside the silicone mouthpiece takes the worst of it, and the funnel that tapers down into the bowl traps loose herb every time you load. The three intake holes in the mouthpiece and the five airflow vents on the back of the body are the other spots that block up.

1. Let it cool first: The Verb shuts itself off after three minutes and thirty seconds, and it runs warm through back to back bowls. Give it three to five minutes before you touch the oven, which also spares the 1200mAh cell.

2. Lift the mouthpiece straight off: It pulls off the top of the body and is held by an O-ring around its outside. Pull it up evenly rather than levering it sideways. Cracked mouthpieces are one of the few faults Verb owners report, and RYOT stocks a replacement.

3. Empty the oven with the poker: The stainless steel poker sits in a magnetic hole in the base of the device. Use it to break up the spent load and tip it out through the funnel.

4. Brush the funnel and filter: Work the supplied brush into the crevices where the funnel narrows into the bowl, then across the metal filter on the underside of the mouthpiece. Doing this every few bowls keeps the screen from gumming shut.

5. Swab with isopropyl: Dampen one of the 25 cotton swabs from the box and wipe the oven walls and the inner face of the filter. RYOT's own cleaning tutorial is blunt that a vaporizer cannot be submerged in isopropyl, so keep it on the swab and out of the body.

6. Wash the silicone by hand: RYOT allows an isopropyl soak for steel, glass and ceramic parts, but says plastic, rubber and silicone must be cleaned by hand in warm soapy water with a cloth or pipe cleaner. The Verb's mouthpiece is silicone, so it gets soap and water. Undo the screw and the filter itself can sit in isopropyl for a few minutes.

7. Clear the holes: Run the poker through the mouthpiece intakes and the five vents on the back.

8. Dry, then burn off: Reassemble only when everything is dry, then run the device on high for one to three minutes to clear any isopropyl residue, as RYOT instructs.
