JCVAP Poby Ember Overview
The JCVAP Poby Ember is a small battery ball vape that draws through its own glass bubbler. Herb goes into the bottom of an infusion injector with 2mm ruby or SiC pearls above it, the injector sits in a 3D heater on the battery base, and a glass cap covers the top while you draw from the angled glass mouthpiece. It shares its base and glass with JCVAP's Poby L electric dab rig, and its injector also fits the Pockety Herbcloud.
Key Features & Benefits of the JCVAP Poby Ember
Everything runs from one button. Three presses step through six presets from 347°F to 437°F (175°C to 225°C), each shown as a colour on the LED, four presses set the heat cycle to 60, 75, 90 or 180 seconds, and a double press starts heating, with a vibration when it is ready. The battery is a replaceable cell that JCVAP rates at 5000mAh and one owner identifies as a 26650, and JCVAP quotes 20 to 30 puffs per charge in its description and up to 40 in its spec table. Injectors come in titanium for faster heat transfer, ceramic for more even heating, or quartz with a dosing capsule for easier cleaning, and the base comes in black or purple.
What Comes with the JCVAP Poby Ember?
The Poby Ember is $116.90 with ruby pearls or $128 with SiC pearls:
- Poby battery base
- 3D heater
- Infusion injector with 2mm ruby or SiC pearls
- Glass cap
- Glass body with mouthpiece
- Boar brush
- Cleaning brush
- USB-C cable
- Carrying case, style varies by option
- User manual
The glass is hand blown, so JCVAP notes sizes vary slightly, and a wall charger is not included. For $142.90 the Poby 2-in-1 kit adds the concentrate heater and glass parts that turn the same base into a dab rig.
Using the JCVAP Poby Ember
Charge it fully before the first session; the LED blinks while charging and holds solid white when full. The base defaults to concentrate mode after a battery change, so press the button five times until it flashes green three times for dry herb (three red flashes means concentrate). To load, lift off the infusion injector, holding only the silicone part if it is warm, turn it upside down, fill the bottom chamber and pack it gently. Hold the button for three seconds to turn on, pick a preset, then double press to heat. JCVAP says gentle draws give the best results, and warns that inhaling or blowing hard into the glass can cause spills that damage the device.
If you want the same idea with a screen, a wider temperature range and a bigger battery, step up to the Herbcloud Crown. For other compact ways to get water-cooled hits, see our water pipe compatible vaporizers list.

JCVAP Poby Ember FAQs
What temperatures does the Poby Ember use?
Six presets, each shown by a colour on the LED: blue 347°F, green 365°F, yellow 383°F, red 401°F, purple 419°F and white 437°F (175°C to 225°C). Press the button three times in a row to step to the next one. There is no way to set a value between them. Our temperature guide explains what each step changes.
How do you switch the Poby Ember to dry herb mode?
Press the button five times. Three green flashes means dry herb mode and three red flashes means concentrate mode. The base returns to concentrate mode whenever the battery is taken out and refitted, so check the flashes after a battery swap.
How long is each heat cycle?
The default is 60 seconds. Press the button four times, then single press to choose between 60, 75, 90 and 180 seconds; the setting saves itself after four seconds. A double press starts or stops heating, and the base vibrates when it is ready to draw.
Which infusion injector should I choose?
JCVAP pitches titanium for faster heat transfer, ceramic for more even heating, and quartz with a dosing capsule for easier cleaning. All three hold the same 2mm ruby or SiC pearls, and the injector also fits the Pockety Herbcloud. Capsules keep the injector cleaner, as our guide to dosing capsules explains.
What battery does the Poby Ember use?
A replaceable cell that JCVAP rates at 5000mAh, which one owner identifies as a 26650. JCVAP says any replacement must be a high-capacity cell rated for more than 15A, or the heater may not reach temperature and the device and cell could be damaged. A single press shows the charge: red below 25%, blue to 50%, green to 75% and white above. Our guide to vaporizer battery life covers caring for cells.
Can the Poby Ember be used for concentrates?
Yes, with extra parts. It shares its base and glass with the Poby L e-rig, so adding a Poby concentrate heater, a glass dome and a ball cap turns it into a dab rig. The dry herb injector, glass cap and 3D heater cannot be used for concentrates. The Poby 2-in-1 kit at $142.90 includes both setups.
Can a Poby L be upgraded to a Poby Ember?
Not the first version. JCVAP says the Poby V2 and Ember run completely different firmware, so a Poby L V1 cannot be converted.
What warranty does the Poby Ember have?
JCVAP's store terms allow returns of unused items within three days of delivery and a free replacement if a part fails within 30 days of normal use. Its manual asks owners to contact support by live chat or email at service@jcvap.com and to keep proof of purchase rather than returning the device unprompted.

JCVAP Poby Ember Cleaning & Maintenance
JCVAP's manual is blunt about why the Poby Ember needs regular cleaning: residue builds up on the heater, the air inlet, the glass cap and the glass body, hurts flavour and vapor, and can eventually work its way into the device. The injector holds the herb and the pearls, so it collects the most resin, while the glass body needs fresh water and a rinse like any bubbler.
Quick Cleaning (After Each Session)
- Let it cool fully: JCVAP says not to clean the heater until it has cooled, and the glass cap stays hot after a cycle.
- Empty the injector: Lift it out by the silicone, turn it over and tip the spent herb out of the bottom chamber.
- Brush the heater and glass cap: Use the boar brush to clear loose material from the 3D heater and the inside of the glass cap.
- Wipe the base: Clean the glass top of the battery base with a dry cloth with a little alcohol on it. Never pour alcohol or water onto it, since liquid can get into the circuit board.
- Change the water: Empty and refill the glass body so the next session starts clean.
Deeper Cleaning (Every Few Sessions)
- Remove the heater: Once the device is completely cool, unscrew the 3D heater from the base.
- Soak it in alcohol: JCVAP's manual has you soak it in alcohol for 10 minutes, then clean it with a cotton swab. Let it dry completely before refitting.
- Scrub the air inlet: Dip the thin cleaning brush in alcohol and work it back and forth through the air inlet on the base.
- Clean the injector and pearls: Soak the injector in isopropyl alcohol to loosen resin from the pearls, then let it air dry fully.
- Wash the glass: Clean the glass body and glass cap with isopropyl and coarse salt or warm soapy water, then rinse well.
- Reassemble and run one cycle: Fit everything back, check it is in dry herb mode, and run one empty heat cycle before loading herb.
Care Tips for Better Results
- Do not overfill the injector. JCVAP lists it as one of its general warnings, and our guide on packing a dry herb vaporizer explains why airflow matters.
- Wipe any residue off the battery promptly when you swap it, which JCVAP says helps the cell last.
- Keep the Ember away from moisture and high humidity.
- Use the quartz injector with a dosing capsule if you want the least cleanup.
- For general technique, read our guide on how to clean a dry herb vaporizer.
Learn More About JCVAP Poby Ember
The Poby Ember makes the most sense for someone who likes water-cooled hits and wants a ball vape style injector without a coil, a controller or a separate rig. It is small enough to take out of the house, the battery is replaceable so a spare cell extends a day out, and the interchangeable injectors let you choose between faster heat, smoother heat or capsule-friendly cleaning. Because it shares a base with the Poby L, it is also a cheap route to a concentrate setup later, and the injector moves across to a Pockety Herbcloud if you upgrade.
The limits are mostly about control. There are six fixed presets between 347°F and 437°F, no screen and no way to set a value between steps, so it suits people who are happy to pick a colour rather than tune a temperature. JCVAP lists a preheat of about 2.5 minutes, which is slow next to a fast heat-up vaporizer, and JCVAP's figure of 20 to 30 puffs per charge (up to 40 in its spec table) means carrying a spare cell for long days. The glass body also means it wants water, a flat surface and gentle draws. If you want more range and a screen, the Herbcloud Crown is JCVAP's bigger step.
