How does the CAT's ruby coil heat the herb?

The CAT is full convection: ruby beads on the coil take up heat fast and hold it, so the draw pulls hot air through the herb instead of heating by contact. End Game Labs quotes 10 to 30 seconds to heat, depending on temperature and the coil fitted. Our ball vape guide covers why ruby is used.

When does the CAT need recalibrating, and how?

End Game Labs lists a flashing red light, 30 days of daily use, a drop or knock, a battery pulled mid heat, and any coil swap. Let the coil cool first, refit the battery, hold the power button until the device vibrates, then press twice. TCR 90 to 95 is the recommended range, and 0.18 to 0.195 ohms a normal coil reading.

Where is the CAT's display?

Under the walnut cladding, which is held on by magnets and lifts off. It also insulates the body, and gives stepless control up to 230°C.

Can I use the CAT while it charges?

No. It charges over USB-C at 5V and 2A in about two and a half hours, so a spare 21700 is the practical answer.

What is the difference between the glass and steel stems?

The glass stem is 6.5cm with four cooling beads and a basket screen. The steel one is 5cm, keeps the screen but has no beads, so it travels better and cools less.

How does the CAT compare to the 2-Con?

The 2-Con is a hybrid, with a conduction coil around the bowl and 330 loose rubies, where the CAT is pure convection on one replaceable ruby coil. We reviewed the 2-Con and were not impressed by its build.

Where do I get CAT parts now that eglvape.com is down?

The brand's own store no longer loads, so spares come from the specialist retailers that stocked it, several of which still list a CAT parts set with a ruby coil module, glass insulator tubes, screens and gaskets. The 360 day warranty never covered the coil anyway.
