G Pen Elite Cleaning & Maintenance

The Elite has an unusually short vapor path, so nearly all of the residue collects in one spot: the stainless steel filter screen set into the underside of the mouthpiece, sitting directly over a wide ceramic chamber that swallows close to half a gram. What would condense along a stem on other portables bakes onto that screen instead.

Empty the chamber while it is still warm: Press firmly upward on the back of the mouthpiece and lift one side to pop it off. Grenco's advice is to clean immediately after every use, and briefly pre-heating the device first softens the residue so it brushes off instead of smearing.
Brush the connection and the screen: Work the included cleaning brush around the rim where the mouthpiece seats and across the filter screen. The G Pen Tool handles anything packed down into the ceramic chamber.
Soak the mouthpiece when build-up gets heavy: Grenco's own guidance is to separate all three mouthpiece parts, the plastic outer body, the removable silicone cover and the filter screen, and soak them in rubbing alcohol. Running the whole mouthpiece under hot water is also effective. Some owners have had the plastic crack after months of use, so warm soapy water on the plastic body and alcohol on the screen is the gentler option.
Slide the screen out, do not pry it: Clean the mouthpiece before removing the screen. Push the G Pen Tool against the filter holes and slide the screen out through the small opening at the front. Leave this too long and hardened residue makes it a fight. Grenco sold the screens in five packs, so replacing a clogged one is fair game.
Swab the ceramic chamber lightly: The chamber wall is the heating element, so use a cotton swab wrung out with alcohol rather than letting liquid pool at the bottom. Let it dry completely.
Burn off afterwards: Run the empty device at maximum temperature and draw through it without inhaling. This clears any alcohol and is worth doing a few times on a brand new unit, which arrives with a manufacturing taste.

Beyond cleaning, the 2200mAh lithium-ion cell is sealed inside and cannot be replaced, so treat it as the lifespan of the device. Give it at least three hours on the first charge, and note that it will pass through power for use while plugged in only once it is above twenty percent.
