What is the Dart on the Puffco Plus?
The Dart is the ceramic loading tool stored inside the mouthpiece, doubling as a splash guard and carb cap. Press the silicone top to extend it, scoop your concentrate, then screw the mouthpiece back on. Puffco recommends 0.2g or 0.3g and nothing above the chamber's air holes.
How do the heat settings and Sesh Mode work?
One button does everything. Five clicks powers the pen on or off, four clicks cycles the three heat settings, and the light color shows which is active, white being the highest. Holding it heats while you inhale, cutting out at eight seconds; two clicks instead starts Sesh Mode, a 12 second cycle you do not hold.
How long does a Puffco Plus charge last?
Puffco rates the battery at around 30 Sesh Mode cycles on the highest setting, a few full chamber loads. Vapor thins before the battery is flat, so a weak session often just means it needs charging, which the light signals by flashing ten times.
Does the Plus chamber need replacing?
Treat it as a consumable. Puffco warrants the electronic base for a year but the chamber for only one month, and sells it separately. Darkening at the base of the ceramic is normal, not a failure, so judge it on taste rather than looks.
Can I use Plus parts with other 510 gear?
Both are 510 threaded, but not interchangeably. Puffco says not to run the Plus chamber on another battery, since it is calibrated to the power the Plus battery supplies. The battery will fire a standard 510 cartridge, though its 2.7 to 3.7 volts is lower than many cartridges expect.
What changed on the newer Puffco Plus?
Puffco reglazed and reshaped the Dart for improved airflow and added a silicone grip to the chamber so fingers stay cooler. Controls, the coil-less ceramic bowl and Sesh Mode carried over, and Puffco says the newer parts are compatible with previous Plus parts, so an older pen takes a current mouthpiece or chamber. Both appear in our best portable budget concentrate vaporizers list.
Puffco Plus Cleaning & Maintenance
Puffco built the Plus around a coil-less ceramic chamber with small airflow holes cut through its side walls. Those holes are where the mess starts: an overfilled bowl or a runny extract weeps out while the chamber is hot and runs down the 510 threading toward the battery. The Dart, the ceramic loading tool living inside the mouthpiece, picks up a film of oil every time you scoop with it.
-
Work while it is warm: Run a single Sesh Mode cycle to soften the residue, unscrew the mouthpiece, then take a tightly wound cotton swab around the chamber walls and over the Dart. Puffco asks for a swab after each use and a proper pass every few uses.
-
Push the Dart out: A small black silicone grommet is all that holds it in, so it comes free if you poke a cotton swab down through the top of the mouthpiece. Be gentle with it, since the Dart itself is ceramic.
-
Alcohol on a swab, not a bath: Puffco permits isopropyl on a swab for the mouthpiece, the Dart, the threading and the battery, but says outright not to soak any of the gunmetal parts in alcohol. The manual does allow separating the mouthpiece, Dart and chamber for a 15 to 30 minute soak; keep that for the ceramic Dart, and air dry everything fully before reassembly.
-
Do not skip the gold pins: There is one on top of the battery and one on the underside of the chamber. A swab dipped in 90% or stronger isopropyl across both is Puffco's first answer to a chamber that will not heat, a battery light that only flashes, and a charge that never finishes. Give the charger's contact the same wipe.
-
Drip a clog out: Take the mouthpiece off, hold the pen upside down over a paper towel and run a Sesh Mode cycle or two so softened oil escapes through the chamber holes. Let it cool every two or three cycles.
-
Mop up leaks: Anything that runs onto the threading or battery lifts off with a paper towel or isopropyl swab and does no lasting damage. Loading only 0.2g or 0.3g at a time, staying below the air holes and holding the pen upright while it is warm avoids most of it.
Blackening at the base of the chamber is normal on ceramic and is not a fault, so do not fire the pen empty trying to burn it clean, which the manual rules out anyway. When a cleaned chamber stops tasting right, it is sold on its own as a replacement, and it should only ever be run on a Plus battery despite the shared 510 thread.
