Focus V Carta Sport

Focus V Carta Sport Overview
The Carta Sport arrived in 2025 as the device that takes over from the Carta 2, which Focus V retired after July 2025 as part of a patent settlement with Puffco. It keeps the parts that made the Carta 2 work, the same Intelli-Core atomizer and the same glass fitting, and strips out the OLED screen and the plus and minus buttons. Everything now runs from the single V button, with the detail settings moved into the V Browser app over Bluetooth.
Key Features & Benefits of the Focus V Carta Sport
Two changes matter more than the price drop. The first is the Carta Connect, a silicone airpath that pops out of the body in seconds, so the reclaim that used to collect in an unreachable channel between the atomizer and the base can now be cleaned or simply replaced for around $20. The second is the battery, a 2700mAh cell that Focus V puts at 35% larger than the Carta 2's, quoting 50 or more dabs per charge. The Intelli-Core atomizer heats the floor of its quartz lined bowl as well as the walls, which is a genuine difference from the wall-only chambers Puffco uses in the Peak Pro.

How is the Carta Sport different from the Carta 2?
It runs the same Intelli-Core atomizer and takes the same glass, but drops the OLED screen and the plus and minus buttons for a single V button, with detail settings in the app. It adds the removable Carta Connect airpath and a 2700mAh battery, 35% larger than the Carta 2. It also costs about $115 less.
Why was the Carta 2 discontinued?
Focus V settled a patent infringement suit with Puffco and agreed to sunset the Carta 2 after July 2025. Existing warranties, support and V Browser firmware updates continue, and Intelli-Core atomizers, glass tops and accessories remain on sale. The Sport was designed to fill that gap while the Carta 3 is developed.
What is the Carta Connect?
A silicone airpath that connects the atomizer to the glass and pops out of the body in seconds. Reclaim collects inside it rather than in an unreachable channel, so you can chill it in the freezer for fifteen minutes, clean it out and refit it. Replacements sell for around $20.
What temperatures does it run?
Five presets: blue at 480°F, yellow at 495°F, green at 515°F, purple at 535°F and red at 565°F, each shown by an LED colour. The V Browser app sets custom values and session lengths from 20 to 120 seconds. Our terpene boiling points chart is a useful reference for choosing.
Which atomizers work with it?
The full Intelli-Core line, including the standard oil atomizer in the box, the deeper MAX for larger dabs and the herb atomizer. Reviewers rate herb performance as poor, so treat that one as a curiosity. Focus V warrants Intelli-Core atomizers for six months.
How do I charge it safely?
USB-C at 5V, between 1.1A and 2A, taking about 90 minutes from empty. Focus V excludes damage from higher output chargers and from charging for more than two hours from the warranty. Passthrough charging works, and the separately sold Focus V wireless charger is supported.
How much water goes in the glass?
Focus V puts the limit at the logo on the glass and no higher, and says never to fill the top while it is on the base. Overfilling is a listed warranty exclusion. Glass tops carry only a seven day warranty, though a defective one is replaced if you claim within that window.
What does the Carta Sport warranty cover?
One year on the base, six months on Intelli-Core atomizers and seven days on Focus V glass tops. Claims need a dated proof of purchase and the device registered with Focus V. Cosmetic damage, overlong isopropyl exposure, overloading the atomizer and purchases from unauthorised resellers are all excluded.

Focus V Carta Sport Cleaning & Maintenance
The Carta Sport was designed around one cleaning problem. On the Carta 2 and rigs like it, reclaim collected in the channel between the atomizer and the body where nothing could reach it. Here that channel is the Carta Connect, a silicone insert that lifts straight out. Beyond that, the places residue gathers are the Intelli-Core cup, the glass top and the gold contact pins where the atomizer threads into the base.
Quick Cleaning (After Each Session)
- End the session deliberately: Stop the cycle with the V button rather than leaving the rig idling at temperature.
- Swab the atomizer warm: Wipe the Intelli-Core cup with a dry cotton swab while it is still warm. Reclaim lifts away easily then and hardens once it cools.
- Empty the glass: Pour the water out and never store the rig with a full top.
Deeper Cleaning (Every Few Sessions)
- Pop out the Carta Connect: Lift the silicone airpath out of the body. Fifteen minutes in the fridge or freezer stiffens the reclaim inside and makes it come away cleanly. Rinse it, dry it and push it back in.
- Glass top and carb cap: Pull the glass straight up out of its seat, add isopropyl, shake for 30 to 60 seconds and repeat if it is still hazy. Rinse under water until no alcohol smell remains, then air dry fully. The Control Stick cap soaks alongside it.
- Intelli-Core atomizer: Unthread it counterclockwise, remove the silicone sleeve, then give it five to ten minutes in isopropyl. If it is seized, a fifteen second cycle at the lowest preset softens the reclaim. Never rinse the atomizer under water, and let it air dry for an hour or two.
- Base and contacts: Clean the connection port and the gold centre pin with an isopropyl dampened swab. Wipe the base only, never pour alcohol on it, and dry it immediately.
- Reassemble: Thread the atomizer back in clockwise until snug without overtightening, refit the Connect, then the glass.
Care Tips for Better Results
- Cold load the atomizer before any heat is applied. Loading a hot chamber risks thermal shock.
- Do not scrape concentrate against the walls of the cup. A heated loading tool drops it cleanly onto the floor instead.
- Focus V lists overlong isopropyl exposure as a warranty exclusion, so soak parts for the times given rather than leaving them overnight.
- Keeping a spare Carta Connect means a clogged airpath never ends a session, since swapping one in takes seconds.
- General technique is covered in our guide on how to clean a vaporizer.
Learn More About Focus V Carta Sport
The Carta Sport is for someone who wanted a Carta 2 and can live without the screen. Vapor quality is close enough to its predecessor that reviewers who have used both struggle to separate them, and the removable Carta Connect airpath fixes the single most annoying maintenance problem on the old rig, where reclaim collected somewhere you could not reach. The Intelli-Core atomizer is quartz lined rather than bare ceramic, which resists the darkening that ceramic chambers pick up over time. At $235 it undercuts most premium e-rigs while still offering app control, five presets and firmware updates.
The obvious loss is the on-device readout. Without a screen you are relying on LED colours to know which preset you are on, and anything beyond the five presets means opening the app. The chamber is small next to the Peak Pro, so heavy users generally end up buying the larger Intelli-Core MAX atomizer separately. The base warranty is one year against Puffco's two, and the glass top makes this more of a coffee table device than a pocket one, which our desktop vs portable guide is worth reading on. The herb atomizer exists but performance with flower is poor, so treat it as a concentrate rig, as our guide on concentrates in a dry herb vaporizer explains.
