Is the battery in the Boundless CFC 2.0 removable?
No. It runs on a single 18650 sealed into the body under the power button, and Boundless sells a replacement cell for the CFC Lite but not this one. Charging is over micro USB and takes about three hours.
How do you set the temperature on the CFC 2.0?
Five quick clicks of the power button switch it on at the last temperature used. Each press of the up or down button moves one degree, holding one scrolls, and pressing both together swaps Fahrenheit for Celsius.
How is the CFC 2.0 different from the CFC Lite?
The Lite is fixed to three presets of 385F, 403F and 421F, with a 0.4 gram chamber and a swappable 18350 battery. The CFC 2.0 gives the full 60C to 230C range on a screen and a 0.5 gram bowl, with its battery sealed in. The Boundless CFX sits above both.
Can you use concentrates in the CFC 2.0?
No. There is no concentrate pad in the box and Boundless does not sell one for this model. Its warranty also excludes damage from loading wax or oil without the proper concentrate pods.
Does the CFC 2.0 work on a water pipe?
Yes, the adapter is included. Pull the mouthpiece off and press the adapter on in its place. It gets hot in use, so let it cool before removing, and it splits apart for cleaning. See our guide to vaping with a water pipe.
How much herb does the CFC 2.0 chamber hold?
Up to half a gram of finely ground material, loaded with the unit off. Boundless asks that you not pack it tightly, since a dense load restricts the draw. Around 0.1 to 0.2 grams suits one person.
What warranty does the Boundless CFC 2.0 come with?
Boundless honours three years where the packaging states three years, against a one year standard elsewhere. Batteries are covered for 30 days only, cosmetic damage is excluded, and units bought from a retailer are claimed through that retailer.
Boundless CFC 2.0 Cleaning & Maintenance
The CFC 2.0 presses about half a gram of ground herb straight against the walls of its ceramic conduction oven, so resin bakes onto the ceramic and works its way into the chamber screen sitting at the base of the bowl. Everything the vapor carries up then lands in the plastic mouthpiece assembly directly above it, which is why airflow and taste usually fade there first.
-
Empty the oven early: Tip the spent material out while the chamber is still warm and give the ceramic a pass with the included brush. Boundless recommends clearing the chamber right after a session rather than letting it cool with material inside.
-
Lift the mouthpiece off: The CFC 2.0 mouthpiece is a friction fit and pulls straight up, with no magnet or thread holding it. It will seat backwards and still draw, so note which way round it sits before you remove it.
-
Split the mouthpiece assembly: It comes apart into the plastic tip, the silicone encasing and the stainless steel mouthpiece screen. Push the screen out of the silicone rather than levering at it.
-
Soak the screens: Both the mouthpiece screen and the removable chamber screen can go into 91% isopropyl. Boundless caps mouthpiece soaking at 15 minutes, after which you rinse and dry fully. The box ships two spare mouthpiece screens and three chamber screens, so swap rather than scrub a screen that has clogged solid.
-
Treat the plastic and silicone gently: Wipe the mouthpiece housing and silicone gasket with alcohol instead of leaving them submerged, then soak those two in warm soapy water. Long alcohol contact blemishes and can crack the plastic on this model.
-
Swab the ceramic: Use a cotton swab damp with isopropyl, not dripping, on the chamber walls, follow with the dry end of a second swab, and let it air dry. Keep alcohol out of the airpath below the chamber screen.
-
Keep alcohol off the body: Boundless states that isopropyl on the exterior shell damages the outer coating and that this is not covered by the warranty. A barely damp cloth is enough for the outside, buttons and screen.
-
Burn off before the next bowl: Run one empty session at a high temperature to clear any alcohol residue.
Brush the oven every few sessions and do the full strip when the smell turns stale or the draw stiffens. Give the water pipe adapter and stir tool the same alcohol soak whenever you use them.
