The swirl-style airflow pulls air around the ruby reservoir for quick saturation and thick vapor without needing to stir between hits. With the ruby core holding heat so well, the Ruby Twist likes a lower range than the Thermal Twist. Most users hover between 450°F and 650°F, with the standard bowl feeling dialed around the high 570s. It handles everything from 0.05 g tester bowls to roughly 0.4 g, and the side-carb glass bowl makes it easy to clear without moving the injector. One downside of the Ruby Twist though is the airflow can be a little restrictive, but this will only bother those overly senstivie to flow restriction.

Using the Ruby Twist

The injector ships pre-assembled, so it's essentially plug, set, and go. Let the coil and ruby bed soak for a few minutes after the Micro PID hits temp; that warm-up gives the most even extractions. Ruby Twist Cleaning & Maintenance

Nearly all of the residue from a Ruby Twist session ends up somewhere other than the injector. Vapor forms above the bed of gem-cut rubies and travels straight down through the bowl into your water pipe, so the titanium housing stays comparatively clean while the glass darkens. SZ Crossing's position is that the heating chamber needs no special cleaning at all, and the maintenance that matters is the glass, the screens and the coil.

Wash the glass bowl every few days: The Thermal Twist bowl is borosilicate with a 14mm male joint, a side carb and a stainless mesh screen sitting inside it. Owners running the Ruby Twist daily find flavor falls off after roughly ten bowls. Lift the screen out, shake the bowl with isopropyl and coarse salt, then rinse with hot water and let it air dry fully before the next session.
Brush the screens rather than soaking them: SZ Crossing asks only that you run the wooden brush over the screens regularly to clear debris and swap them once they stop passing air. The bowl and housing screens are stainless consumables and the kit ships with spares, so replace a clogged one instead of scrubbing it.
Keep isopropyl away from the coil and controller: The 20mm coil and its 5 pin XLR lead are the only electrical parts, and neither the coil nor the Micro PID should ever get wet. Wipe the outside of the housing with a cloth instead, and check the braided sleeve on the coil cable for cuts or exposed wire while you are there. The coil holds heat for about ten minutes after shutdown.
Check the hex bolt and shake the housing: The bolt on top of the injector can work loose in transit. Before heating, tighten it, then shake the housing gently and listen: any rattle or loose ruby means a screen has shifted and needs seating again.
Only strip the ruby bed for concentrates: Flower leaves the rubies alone. If you run concentrate through it, the rubies and housing need an isopropyl soak or a wipe with alcohol pads. Replacement rubies are sold loose, which helps if a few escape during reassembly.
Free stuck joints with heat: The titanium Matrix bowl uses Viton o-rings on its swappable glass posts. Pull straight down, never twist. If a post binds, rest the housing on the bowl for fifteen seconds and the expansion releases it, and a little o-ring wax stops it happening again.
