The DAbOX puts its atomizer in a swiveling arm at the base and runs the vapor path up a glass tube alongside the battery, so grime does not collect evenly. The exposed quartz coils throw a lot of splatter, and most of it lands on the silicone splash guard sitting between the coil and the glass. That guard clogs faster than anything else here, and a tight draw is usually the first sign of it.

1. Power down and let the coil cool: Five clicks of the fire button switches the device off. ViVANT is blunt about this in the manual: the coil head must be off and fully cool before you touch or adjust it, or you risk a burn.

2. Twist the base open: The Flip Door clicks to two positions on a twist, 45 degrees for loading and 90 degrees for coil access. Open it to 90 degrees, grip the coil head on the sides and pull it straight out. The coil screws into an adapter that lifts out with it, so separate the two and wipe both, along with the tracks the assembly slides along. If the LED flashes slowly after refitting, the coil is not seated properly or has shorted.

3. Rinse the glass chamber: The only cleaning method ViVANT gives is isopropyl alcohol on the glass chamber, rinsed until all residue is gone, then left to dry fully before reassembly. Take the glass out of the body first. Owners report chipping or cracking it by working on it while installed, and ViVANT sells it as a spare part for that reason.

4. Clear the splash guard: Isopropyl and a cotton swab will open the silicone guard back up. Replace it once the holes stay dark. The box ships a spare guard and three O rings, so refit a fresh O ring if the draw ever feels loose around the chamber.

5. Keep liquid off the body: Submerging the device voids the warranty. Wipe the shell with a damp cloth only, and keep alcohol away from the Micro USB port and the contacts the coil adapter seats onto in the base.

6. Treat coils as consumables: A short pulse of the fire button on an empty coil burns off leftover oil between cleans. Swap the head when vapor thins or tastes scorched. Three types fit: dual quartz, dual quartz Clapton at 0.25 ohm, and single quartz Clapton.

With 0.1g to 0.2g dabs, a full strip down every week or two suits most users. Charge the 1500mAh cell with a 2 amp adapter and treat the red charging light going out as full.
