The Ace's oven is a narrow ceramic well, 10.2mm across and 18.5mm deep, with a floor that moves: sliding the cleaning button on the body raises that floor and pushes the spent puck up and out. Residue packs around that moving part as well as onto the walls, and owners who let it set report the slider scoring the ceramic and eventually jamming. Above the oven sits a magnetic top cap holding a stack of small parts that clogs long before the bowl looks dirty.

Wait until it is stone cold: XMAX asks that the Ace be locked off, unused for at least half an hour and completely cool first. The heating element is embedded in the ceramic oven, and the shell holds heat after a boost mode run.
Eject, then sweep the oven: Slide the cleaning button to lift the base and clear the spent load, then work the supplied brush around the walls and finish with an alcohol cotton swab, the method the manual gives. In our review the bowl was too narrow to get a finger into, so the swab is the only thing reaching the bottom edge. Doing this after every load also keeps the moving base from seizing.
