How the V3 Pro Fits Together

Every buying decision on this page gets easier once you know the five pieces of a V3 Pro and how they attach. From the top down:

• Mouthpiece assembly. A plastic housing with a stir tool molded into its side. Inside it sit a ceramic airflow box that keeps vapor off the plastic, a metal screen with a short air tube, and a silicone filter assembly. The whole thing seats on the body with a magnet, which is why every glass upgrade for the V3 Pro is a drop-in swap rather than a screw-on.
• Chamber. A stainless steel oven that our review found holds around 0.1g of ground herb. It is the size that matters for dosing capsules, and it is the same size as the POTV One's chamber, so capsules made for either device fit both.
• Body. The aluminum shell with the OLED screen, the power button, and the up and down temperature buttons, adjustable from 100C to 220C. There are no user-serviceable parts inside, and none of the stores sell any.
• Battery lid. A magnetic aluminum cap over the bottom of the device. It is the part that most often goes missing, and XMAX sells it separately.
• 18650 cell. The V3 Pro ships with a 3.7V 2550mAh 18650 according to XMAX's own spec sheet, and it is user-replaceable by pulling the lid.

Two rules save the most money. First, the glass mouthpiece and the glass water pipe adapter share the same magnetic base, which XMAX and The Stash Shack call the glass adapter, and The Stash Shack's cooling stems and bent bubbler only fit that base. Buy one glass part from XMAX and every third-party stem opens up; buy a stem first and it has nothing to plug into. Second, only the parts below the chamber carry over between the three devices. The table shows what fits where.

Batteries: The First Thing to Buy

The removable 18650 is the V3 Pro's best feature, and it is the reason the device sits on our replaceable battery vaporizers list. Our review got five or six sessions of 30 to 45 minutes from the cell in the box, which is plenty for a day but not for a weekend away. A second cell doubles that for less than the price of a coffee, and because the device charges over USB-C with pass-through, you can keep one cell in the device and one in a charger and never wait.

Which cell to buy

Our review's advice was to buy only genuine cells from manufacturers known for quality, such as LG or Samsung, and never an unbranded cell with a big number printed on the wrap. The two specialist stores in this guide have settled on the same answer: the Molicel P28A, a 2800mAh flat-top 18650 with a 35A continuous discharge rating according to both listings. Terp Chasers lists it specifically for the XMAX V3 Pro, alongside the Tinymight 2 and the YLL IH 2.0. That is a slightly larger capacity than the 2550mAh cell XMAX ships, so runtime goes up a little rather than down, and the high discharge rating means the cell is not the bottleneck when a convection heater pulls hard for the 30 seconds it takes to reach temperature.

Capacity is the number to be skeptical of. A genuine 18650 tops out around 3500mAh, and anything printed with 5000mAh or more is not what it claims to be. The trade-off with a high-drain cell such as the P28A is that it gives up a few hundred mAh compared with the highest-capacity cells from the same brands, but for a device that heats in short bursts that is the right side of the trade.

The Stash Shack has the Molicel P28A for $8.49, reduced from $9.99. Terp Chasers sells it for $7.99 each or $13.99 a pair, though both the single and the pair were sold out there when we checked, and the listing notes that cells cannot ship by air, so expect ground shipping from either store.

Charging outside the device

The V3 Pro charges its cell through the USB-C port at 5V and 1A, which XMAX's spec sheet lists for both the V3 Pro and the V4 Pro. That works, and the pass-through charging means you can use the device while it charges. It is still worth owning a dedicated lithium-ion charger. Our Starry 4 review, which uses the same cell format, recommends a high-quality external charger whenever possible, and the reasons apply here: a charger tops up a spare while the device is in use, it shows you the state of each cell, and a good one refuses to charge a cell that is damaged or over-discharged. The Stash Shack's own battery listing carries the rules that matter: use only a charger made for lithium-ion cells, charge on a fireproof surface and never unattended, and do not leave cells sitting fully charged for weeks at a time. A two-bay charger from Nitecore or XTAR costs about the same as two cells, and none of the stores in this guide stocked one as of September 2026, so buy it wherever you buy the cells.

Warning: A loose 18650 in a pocket with keys or coins can short across its terminals and get dangerously hot. Carry spares in a plastic cell case, and retire any cell with a torn or nicked wrapper.

Battery lid

The magnetic aluminum lid is the part most likely to fall off in a bag and disappear. XMAX sells it separately for $7.95 at The Stash Shack, and it is worth ordering with anything else from the store before you need it, because a V3 Pro without a lid will not hold its cell in place. This is a V3 Pro part only. The V4 Pro moved to a screw-on battery cap that does not interchange.

Dosing Capsules: How They Change the On-Demand Workflow

The V3 Pro runs in two modes. Session mode heats the chamber for a four or six minute timer, and on-demand mode heats only while you hold the power button, so a single draw costs a single heat cycle. On-demand is where the V3 Pro is at its best, and it is also where the stock workflow gets annoying: a 0.1g chamber packed loose is a couple of draws, and then you are scraping out a warm oven with the stir tool and repacking before the next one.

Dosing capsules fix that. They are small stainless steel cups with a perforated lid that you fill in advance and drop into the chamber whole. Loading becomes a five-second swap, the oven stays clean because the herb never touches it, and each capsule holds the same amount, which our review noted matters most to people who want a consistent dose. With five capsules filled at home, you can take one or two on-demand draws from each and rotate through them over a day without ever opening a grinder in public. The trade-offs are small. A capsule wall takes a little space, so the load is slightly smaller than a bare chamber, and you cannot stir a capsule mid-session the way our review suggests doing with a full bare pack. Capsules also need cleaning eventually, which is a soak in isopropyl rather than a wipe.

Which capsules fit

Any capsule sold for the V3 Pro is the safe buy, and the compatibility is wider than the name suggests. The Stash Shack's listing for the XMAX-branded set states they also fit the DaVinci IQ, IQ2, and IQC with the pearl extended, and the G Pen Elite II. Our review found the V3 Pro chamber shares its dimensions with the POTV One, so POTV capsules work too. The V4 Pro takes the same capsules and ships with one in the box, so a five-pack bought for a V3 Pro will move to a V4 Pro if you upgrade. As of September 2026, the Terp Chasers Club five-piece set at $26.99 was the one in stock. The Stash Shack's five-pack with a travel tube for $27.95 was sold out, and it is the better set when it returns because the airtight tube keeps five loaded capsules fresh in a pocket. Tip: Grind for capsules a touch finer than you would for a bare chamber and fill them level rather than packed. Convection air has to get through the lid holes and the herb, and a dense capsule is the usual reason a V3 Pro suddenly feels restricted. Our grind guide has the details.

Mouthpieces: Glass Beats Plastic

The stock V3 Pro mouthpiece is the part our review liked least. It is mostly plastic, the vapor path is short enough that draws can arrive warm, and cleaning it means a rinse with alcohol rather than a soak because of the silicone and plastic inside. Every mouthpiece upgrade here attaches with the same magnet as the stock part, so swapping takes a second and nothing is modified.

XMAX V3 Pro Glass Mouthpiece

This is the one upgrade every V3 Pro owner should make. It replaces the plastic housing with a glass airway on the same magnetic base, keeps the stir tool, and does two things at once: the glass is cooler on the lips than the plastic, and it cleans with a quick soak instead of the careful rinse the stock part needs. Our review called out the aftermarket glass mouthpiece by name as the fix for people who want the device spotless after cleaning. It is also the cheapest way to get the glass base that the cooling stems below need.

The Stash Shack has it for $14.95. Terp Chasers lists it for $14 but was sold out when we checked. The trade-off is the obvious one: glass breaks, and a pen-shaped device with a glass top is less happy loose in a bag than the plastic original.

XMAX V3 Pro Mouthpiece, the complete stock spare

If you would rather keep the stock design, or you want a spare so the device never sits idle while a mouthpiece dries, XMAX sells the complete assembly. It includes everything: the plastic housing with the built-in stir tool, the ceramic airflow box, and the metal screen and filter assembly, all pre-assembled. At $9.95 from The Stash Shack it is also, right now, the only way to buy the internal wear parts, because the individual pieces are all sold out. The Green Box has the same assembly for AU$29.90.

Screens, filters, and the airflow box

Inside the stock mouthpiece there are three wear items, and XMAX sells each one on its own. The metal screen with its air tube is $2.95, the silicone filter with a second screen is $4.95, the ceramic airflow box is $1.95, and the bare plastic housing is $3.95. All four were out of stock at The Stash Shack when we looked, so treat the links as restock alerts. The screen is the part that actually wears: it clogs, the mesh loosens, and a V3 Pro that has started to draw tight or taste stale usually needs a clean screen rather than anything more. Note: Empty the chamber while it is still warm and brush it out, and the mouthpiece screen stays clean for weeks. Let the oven go cold with spent herb in it and the resin sets. Our review's cleaning routine takes about a minute per session and is the difference between a screen that lasts months and one that clogs every fortnight.

Water Pipe Adapters and Bubblers

Our review's biggest criticism of the V3 Pro was warm vapor from a short path, and a water pipe fixes it completely. The device does not include an adapter, but XMAX makes three, and they cover every kind of glass. XMAX V3 Pro Glass Water Pipe Adapter

The glass WPA replaces the mouthpiece entirely. It seats on the same magnetic base as the glass mouthpiece, keeps the stir tool, and ends in a 14mm male joint with an all-glass airway, so it drops straight into any 14mm female water pipe or bubbler. Because it is the same base with a longer glass top, it also works as a dry mouthpiece when there is no glass around, which means most owners end up using it as their everyday mouthpiece and skipping the plain glass mouthpiece altogether. That is the sensible order to buy in: get the WPA first, and buy the plain glass mouthpiece only if you want something shorter for the pocket.

Which glass fits: any 14mm female joint directly. An 18mm female joint needs a 14mm-to-18mm adapter, or the silicone adapter below. A 10mm female joint, the size on most small dab rigs, needs a 14mm-to-10mm reducer. With the device hanging off a straight joint, pick a piece with a stable base and support the V3 Pro with a hand rather than letting the joint carry the weight.

XMAX V3 Pro Silicone Water Pipe Adapter

The cheap option is a silicone sleeve that fits over the stock mouthpiece and seals into 14mm and 18mm female joints. At $2.99 from The Stash Shack it is worth adding to any order, because it covers the 18mm joint the glass adapter cannot, and it survives being dropped. The trade-off is that vapor still travels through the stock plastic mouthpiece, so you get the water cooling without the glass airway, and silicone holds onto smell in a way glass does not. Buy it as a backup or for 18mm glass, not as your main adapter.

XMAX V3 Pro Glass Bubbler

If you want water cooling without owning a water pipe, the glass bubbler is a small straight bubbler that attaches directly to the device on the magnetic base, with the stir tool built in. Fill it to just above the intake, draw as normal, and you get real water filtration from something that fits in a jacket pocket. Our review flagged it as the option for people who want to stay portable but still want cooler vapor. Empty, it works as a long glass mouthpiece. The trade-offs are that it makes a pen-shaped device top-heavy, it needs to be emptied before it goes in a bag, and it is the most fragile thing on this page. The Stash Shack has it for $24.99.

The Stash Shack also made a Bent Mouthpiece Bubbler for $12.50, an angled bubbler that slots into the glass adapter base from a glass mouthpiece or WPA rather than attaching directly. It is on clearance from $24.99 and was sold out when we checked, so it may not return; if it does, it is the better shape for using the device upright at a desk.

Tip: Through water, run the V3 Pro in on-demand mode and take the long, slow draw our review recommends rather than pulling hard. A 0.1g convection chamber cannot fill a big piece fast, and the water adds resistance. Keep the water level low, just enough to cover the intake, and step the temperature up 5C at a time; water hides the harshness that normally tells you a setting is too hot, so our temperature guide is worth a read first.

Glass Cooling Stems: Cooler Vapor Without Water

The Stash Shack designs its own borosilicate stems for popular portables, and its two V3 Pro stems are the best value cooling upgrade for the device. Both plug into the glass adapter base that comes with any XMAX glass mouthpiece or glass WPA, which is the catch: they do not fit the stock plastic mouthpiece. Buy a glass base first, then a stem. The 3D stem is also sold through DankStop, Smoke Cartel, and Daily High Club as a Stash Shack item, and the beaded stem through DankStop and Smoke Cartel, so if you are already ordering glass from one of those stores you can add a stem without a second shipment.

3D Glass Cooling Stem

A straight stem the same size and shape as XMAX's own glass, with dimples pressed into the tube. The dimples add surface area, so vapor sheds heat on the way up without any extra length, which makes it the stem that still fits in a pocket. It is the one to buy if the stock glass mouthpiece is nearly cool enough and you want it a little better, and the price makes it an easy add: The Stash Shack has it on clearance for $6 in black, green, purple, blue, or clear, down from $11.99. It is $11.99 at Daily High Club, DankStop, and Smoke Cartel, all in stock in every color.

Beaded Glass Cooling Stem

The beaded stem is the bigger cooling upgrade. A column of glass beads inside the tube breaks the vapor into thin streams and pulls heat out of it, and the top bends into an angled mouthpiece so you can hold the device upright on a table and draw comfortably. It is longer than the 3D stem and lives at home rather than in a pocket, and the beads take a little more effort to clean, but if the reason you are reading this is that the V3 Pro hits hot, this is the fix short of water. It is $12.99 at The Stash Shack, DankStop, and Smoke Cartel. Clear and black were in stock at all three when we checked; green, blue, and light blue were sold out everywhere.

Concentrates: The Wax Cup

The V3 Pro ships with a wax cup, a small stainless cup with a mesh floor that sits in the chamber and holds a dab so it can drip down onto the mesh as it melts. Our review was honest about it: it works in a pinch at the higher temperature settings, and it is not what the device is for. If you lost the one in the box, XMAX sells a replacement for $4.95 at The Stash Shack. What Carries Over to the V4 Pro

The XMAX V4 Pro keeps the V3 Pro's recipe, a convection pen with a single 18650 and on-demand and session modes, and changes the parts that owners complained about. That means some of this guide applies to it directly and some of it does not, and no store in our data carried a single V4 Pro-specific spare when we looked, so it is worth being precise.

• Batteries carry over. The V4 Pro uses the same 18650 format and ships with a 2550mAh cell, so the Molicel P28A, an external charger, and a cell case are the same purchase for both devices.
• Dosing capsules carry over. The V4 Pro takes V3 Pro capsules and includes one in the box. A set bought for either device works in the other.
• Mouthpiece parts do not carry over, and you do not need them to. The V4 Pro ships with a magnetic glass mouthpiece that has a 14mm and 18mm water pipe adapter built in, so the glass mouthpiece and glass WPA that are the V3 Pro's two biggest upgrades are already in the V4 Pro's box. Whether The Stash Shack's cooling stems fit the V4 Pro's glass is not stated by any listing, so assume they do not until the store says otherwise.
• The battery lid does not carry over. The V4 Pro uses a screw-on cap, which was the fix for the V3 Pro's magnetic lid going missing.
• Screens are not confirmed. The V4 Pro ships with four mesh screens, and no listing says whether the V3 Pro screen part fits it.

If you are choosing between the two devices, the V4 Pro's included glass mouthpiece, capsule, and spare screens amount to roughly $20 of V3 Pro accessories built in, which closes most of the price gap. V3 Nano: Cheaper Parts for a Cheaper Device

The XMAX V3 Nano is not a small V3 Pro. It is a $50 fixed-temperature device with a built-in 1000mAh battery, a single button, and a three-minute session at a preset 200C to 220C range, and our V3 Nano review found it generous with vapor and a little harsh because of it. Its mouthpiece is a completely different design: a short glass tube in a metal top, sealed with o-rings, with a metal filter underneath. None of the V3 Pro mouthpiece parts, glass, or stems fit it, and there is no cell to replace. What it does have is a set of XMAX spares that cost almost nothing.

V3 Nano Water Pipe Adapter

The one Nano accessory that changes the vapor. It is XMAX's own glass adapter for the Nano with a 14mm and 18mm fit, and it addresses the review's main complaint, which was heat late in the session. Our review's advice for using it is specific: because the Nano ramps its temperature through the session and cannot be turned down, let it preheat a little longer than the ready signal and take several smaller draws rather than one long one. It is $7 at The Stash Shack and $7.50 at Terp Chasers.

V3 Nano mouthpiece parts

Our review praised how simple the Nano's mouthpiece is to maintain: one glass piece, one metal piece, a few o-rings. XMAX sells it three ways. The complete Glass Mouthpiece Top is $4.99 and includes the metal filter and o-ring, which makes it the sensible spare. The bare glass tube is $3 without the filter or o-ring, for when the glass breaks and the rest is fine. The metal filter on its own is $3, and it is the part that clogs. A screen and o-ring set is $1 but was sold out as of September 2026; the Nano ships with two spare screens and two o-rings, so most owners will not need it for a while.

Starry 4 Owners, Read This Before Ordering

The XMAX Starry 4 sells alongside the V3 Pro at the same price, and because both use an 18650 and both have XMAX dosing capsules, people order V3 Pro parts for it. Do not. The Starry 4 is a conduction device with a ceramic oven that our Starry 4 review found holds around 0.3g, three times the V3 Pro's chamber, and a zirconia magnetic mouthpiece with its own filter system. Only the battery advice above applies. Everything else is a separate part, and The Stash Shack stocks the full set: dosing capsules, a five-pack with a travel tube for $15, the whip-style glass adapter for $15 that connects the mouthpiece to a 14mm joint by a silicone tube so the device stays upright, the ceramic mouthpiece tip for $7, the complete zirconia Mouthpiece Top for $21.99, a maintenance set of five chamber screens, two o-rings, and a pin tool for $2, and a wax cup for $5.

Our review found the single capsule in the Starry 4's box fiddly and suggested picking up more if you like pre-loading, and the five-pack is the way to do it. DankStop and Smoke Cartel sell the same capsule as an official XVAPE part for $10.99 each or $30.99 for five, which is twice The Stash Shack's price, and The Green Box has a five-pack for AU$29.90 and the glass adapter for AU$26.95 in Australia.

Build Your Kit by Budget

Under $15, the essentials. A Molicel P28A ($8.49) so you are never waiting on a charge, and the silicone water pipe adapter ($2.99) for any glass you already own. Neither changes the dry draw, both remove a reason to stop using the device.

Around $50, the everyday upgrade. The glass water pipe adapter ($14) as your daily mouthpiece, the 3D Glass Cooling Stem ($6) to plug into it, and the dosing chamber set ($26.99) to make on-demand mode painless. This is the kit that turns the V3 Pro from a good budget device into one you reach for.

Around $90, the complete V3 Pro. Add the glass bubbler ($24.99) for water cooling anywhere, the beaded stem ($12.99) for the desk, a spare stock mouthpiece ($9.95) so cleaning never takes the device out of rotation, a spare battery lid ($7.95), and a second P28A. At that point there is nothing left to buy for the device except a better device.

The V3 Nano kit, about $15. The water pipe adapter ($7), a spare Glass Mouthpiece Top ($4.99), and a metal filter ($3). That is every Nano part worth owning, for less than a third of the device.

What to Skip, or at Least Buy Last

• Both water pipe adapters. The glass WPA covers 14mm joints and works dry; the silicone one covers 18mm and survives drops. Buy the one that matches your glass, and the other only if you have both joint sizes.
• The plain glass mouthpiece if you are buying the glass WPA. They share the base and the WPA does everything the mouthpiece does, only longer. Get the mouthpiece as a shorter pocket option later if you miss it.
• Individual mouthpiece parts, for now. All four were sold out when we checked, and the complete mouthpiece at $9.95 includes every one of them. Buy the assembly, keep the old housing for spares.
• The wax cup unless you already dab. Our review found concentrates an afterthought on the V3 Pro. It is $4.95 and you got one in the box.
• A cell with a big capacity claim from a brand you have not heard of. The Molicel P28A is what both stores that understand vaporizers sell for this device. A 5000mAh 18650 does not exist.
• V3 Pro glass for a V4 Pro. The V4 Pro already ships with a glass mouthpiece that is a water pipe adapter. Spend the money on capsules and a spare cell instead.
• A Starry 4 part for a V3 Pro or the reverse. Same brand, same price bracket, no shared parts above the battery.
