Most of what needs cleaning on the Terp Tap is not the heater. Vapor travels from the port, up the silicone tube, through the tap spout and into the glass cup, so residue collects along that path and in the mug. Stache is emphatic that the coils are the fragile part, that tools must never go into a coil, and that the base never touches water.

Quick Cleaning (After Each Session)

1. Power off and let it cool: Nothing gets handled while it is warm, and the device should not be used while charging either.
2. Rinse and wipe the glass cup: Empty the mug and clean it while the residue is fresh. It lifts off the base for this.
3. Wipe the port and coil: Clean the port and the coil after every use with the included brush and a cotton swab. This is the single habit that keeps a coil alive.

Deeper Cleaning (Every Few Sessions)

1. Take the airflow tubes off: Both the short and long silicone tubes pull away, and the long one has a magnetic ring at its base. Clean them inside and out with swabs.
2. Clean the atomizer and spout: Work the brush tool and cotton swabs through the atomizer and the tap spout, where condensate gathers first.
3. Soak the glass cup: Isopropyl alcohol clears the cut glass mug. Rinse it with hot water afterwards and dry it fully.
4. Wipe the base and screen only: Use a damp cloth on the outside. Never submerge the base in water and never let liquid into the ports.
5. Dry, reassemble and cycle it: Let every part dry completely, put it back together, then run a few heating cycles to burn off anything left behind.

Care Tips for Better Results

• Do not push tools into the coils to clean them. Crushed or touched coil wire is the most common way these fail.
• Load flower into the dry herb coil gently with the dab tool rather than packing it in.
• Run pump mode with four clicks after a session. It clears the internals and is the first thing to try when airflow feels blocked.
• Hand tighten cartridges and coils. Overtightening damages the port threads.
• Keep spare tap rings to hand, since the kit includes replacements for a reason.

The Terp Tap makes most sense as a shared, sit-down device for people who already use 510 cartridges. Two ports mean two carts can run at once, or two people can each have their own without passing anything between them, which is a rare feature at this price and makes it a reasonable pick for group use. Filling the glass mug and drinking from it is slower than a pen and far more theatrical, and because the vapor sits in the glass for a moment it arrives cooler. Voltage control in six steps is enough to tell a flavour setting from a cloud setting, and the ohm readout tells you whether a cartridge is behaving. It also runs off its own battery rather than a wall socket, which is unusual among desktop devices.

The limits are set by Stache itself. It states plainly that the Terp Tap is intended mainly for cartridges, that the dry herb coil is an accessory rather than the point, and that it should not replace a daily flower vaporizer. Only one dry herb coil can run at a time, coils break if you pack them roughly or poke tools into them, and the warranty on the device is a single month. At roughly 3.4kg it is not something you carry about, despite the battery.
