The Nautilus V3 has fewer parts than most portables, but the curved pipe body makes the vapor path harder to reach than a straight tube. A reviewer of the previous generation named cleaning as the main drawback for exactly that reason, and the fix is soaking rather than scrubbing. The magnetic mouthpiece comes away in one pull, which gives direct access to the ceramic chamber below it.

Quick Cleaning (After Each Session)

1. Let the pipe cool: The ceramic chamber sits right under the bowl end and stays hot for a minute or two after the session times out.
2. Pull the mouthpiece off: It is held magnetically, so lift it straight up rather than twisting against the wood.
3. Empty and brush the chamber: Tip the spent load out while it is warm, then sweep the ceramic walls with the included brush. Work around the edge of the deep chamber rather than pressing straight down.
4. Check the mouthpiece screen: Brush any resin off the screen in the mouthpiece. A draw that has gone tight is nearly always this.

Deeper Cleaning (Every Few Sessions)

1. Separate the mouthpiece: Take it off the body and treat it as the part that needs soaking, since it carries most of the condensate on this shape.
2. Soak it in isopropyl: Give the mouthpiece 20 to 30 minutes in isopropyl alcohol, then rinse in warm water and let it dry completely before refitting.
3. Swab the chamber: Use a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl on the ceramic walls, holding the Nautilus so the bowl points down and nothing runs toward the electronics.
4. Keep alcohol off the body: The wood grain finish and the screen bezel get a damp cloth only. Do not soak or submerge the pipe itself.
5. Clean the stems separately: If you use the Churchwarden kit, pull the stems off the 10.4mm adapter and soak them on their own, since they collect condensate over their length.
6. Run one empty cycle: After reassembly, heat the Nautilus at a high setting with an empty chamber until any alcohol smell has cleared, then let it cool before loading.

Care Tips for Better Results

• Store it bowl up so any loose material falls back into the chamber instead of into the stem.
• Wipe the screen face with a dry cloth. Alcohol on the lens is the quickest way to dull it.

The Nautilus V3 makes most sense for someone who wants a device that does not look like a vaporizer. It is a pipe you hold in the palm, with the screen and buttons on the bowl end, and it works as a sit down session vaporizer rather than something you pull out on a walk. The variable temperature is the practical advantage over the cheaper end of the market.
