How does the YLLVAPE Angus heat with a halogen bulb?
Air is pulled past a halogen bulb and through a bed of glass beads before reaching the stainless chamber, so heating is convection with a radiant element. Our review found flavor holds up across a session, though a cold start takes 60 to 90 seconds.
What is the difference between the 50W and 100W Angus?
The original walnut Angus used a 50W bulb over glass beads. YLLVAPE later sold a ruby version with a 100W bulb and ruby balls between bulb and chamber. Retailers rarely say which they hold, so ask before ordering.
Does the Angus come with 18650 batteries?
No, the pair is bought separately. YLLVAPE's manual recommends Molicel or NPE INR-18650-P28A 35A 2800mAh flat tops, kept matched and used only in this device. Charging is USB-C, though a spare pair helps.
How do you set the temperature with no screen?
Five presets run 180°C to 220°C (356°F to 428°F), shown on a ring of five lights around the single button. That ring doubles as a battery gauge at 20 percent per light. The Angus vibrates at temperature, then runs a five minute session. Holding the button adds 10°C (18°F) as a boost.
How much can you load in the Angus bowl?
Our review put it at up to 0.25g, filled no higher than the o-ring, with a medium grind. Overpacking chokes airflow and hurts extraction. Two dosing capsules are included for smaller portions.
Can the YLLVAPE Angus be used with a water pipe?
Not out of the box. YLLVAPE sells a separate Angus water pipe adapter that fits 14mm and 18mm female joints, and our review found it flexible. Our guide to dry herb vaping with a water pipe explains more.
Can the halogen bulb be replaced if it dies?
Not by the owner. It is rated for around 2000 hours, but changing it calls for soldering, so it is a warranty job. To The Cloud Vapor Store lists a one year manufacturer warranty, and YLLVAPE asks for photos of the fault.
YLLVAPE Angus Cleaning & Maintenance
Air on the Angus is heated past a halogen bulb and a bed of glass beads before it reaches the herb, so the stainless oven stays reasonably tidy and the mess collects further up the path, in the magnetic cooling unit on top and the glass stem running through it. In our review the oven took a quick wipe, while that top section proved fiddly, with a lot of small recesses that hold resin.
-
Warm it before stripping it: YLLVAPE asks you to run a heat cycle first so the bonds soften and the parts separate more easily. While it heats, gather the kit the manual lists: isopropyl alcohol, hot water, Dawn dish detergent, paper towels and cotton swabs.
-
Lift the mouthpiece off: A gentle pull and twist releases the whole mouthpiece assembly from the top of the device.
-
Unlock the collar while it is still warm: Rotate the metal lock collar clockwise from Lock to Unlock, take the collar and screen holder out of the cooling unit housing, then unscrew the screen holder itself.
-
Split the plate from the housing: Set the housing back on the unit and pull the cooling unit away, and the magnets release the plate. The tweezer tool in the box is there to pry them apart when they stick.
-
Wash metal and glass separately: Drop the metal pieces into a ziplock of isopropyl to soak. Scrub the rest, the glass stem, elbow guard and housing, in hot water with the dish detergent, rinsing until no detergent is left. Take the metal out of the alcohol, work it with a swab, rinse in hot water and dry everything on a paper towel.
-
Rebuild in order: Screen into the screen holder, holder onto the lock collar at the unlock position, then press the plate back into the housing screen side out with firm, even pressure on both sides. Turn the collar to Lock and refit the mouthpiece.
-
Heat cycle before the next bowl: The manual calls for one more cycle after reassembly to burn off residual alcohol and detergent. Run it empty and do not draw on it.
Brush the oven out between sessions and load only to the o-ring, since packing above that line chokes airflow and pushes more residue into the stem. Rotate the three spare filter screens and two spare o-rings from the kit, retiring a screen once it stops rinsing clear.
Pull the battery covers regularly and dry the chambers. We saw moisture gather there repeatedly, and YLLVAPE traced it to the wood body and told us to wipe it away when it appears. Keep the two 18650 cells paired, charged together and used only in this device. The bulb is sealed and not user serviceable, so keep liquid away from the heater.
