OG Jams

Vapor leaves the OG Jams through a stainless steel mesh screen sitting over the one gram ceramic chamber, then spends its whole cooling run inside the glass vortex airflow attachment in the magnetic top section. That glass collects the residue, and the screen underneath it collects everything the glass does not. The chamber is the easy half of the job; the top section is the half that takes patience, because it separates into several pieces and the screen is awkward to seat again.

1. Clear the chamber after each session: Pull the magnetic mouthpiece base straight up off the body, tip the spent flower out and sweep the ceramic with the supplied brush. Do this before the device cools. A full gram of conduction heated material holds warmth for a long time here, and residue that sets is much harder work later.

2. Break the top section down: The Kind Pen's manual asks for the mouthpiece to be separated into its pieces and cleaned with an alcohol swab. In our review a swab was not enough for the vortex attachment, and sloshing isopropyl around inside it was the only way to reach the internal channels properly.

3. Treat the screen gently: Work isopropyl through the mesh with a cotton bud rather than scraping at it. Lining it back up above the chamber is the fiddliest step of the whole process, so allow a minute for it. The Kind Pen sells OG Jams screens in two packs if one deforms.

4. Keep solvent on swabs, not in the device: Pipe cleaners and cotton buds are the intended tools. Nothing should be poured into the ceramic, and alcohol should stay away from the airflow latches on either side, the OLED window and the charging contacts underneath. Wipe the aluminium alloy and hard plastic shell with a cloth, and wash the silicone sleeve separately.

5. Strip it fully once a week: The Kind Pen puts a thorough clean at weekly, or about one strip-down per 15 to 20 sessions. Parts should not be left sitting in solution for extended periods, as prolonged contact can discolour or damage them. Rinse, dry completely, then reassemble.

6. Burn off before you inhale: With everything dry and back together, heat the empty chamber at maximum temperature for a couple of minutes to drive off any alcohol left behind. New units are worth burning off too, since ours had a clear factory smell before first use.

The 14mm glass water pipe adapter and the bubbler mouthpiece should be soaked and rinsed like any other glass. If the device stops charging reliably in its dock, the contacts on the base are the first thing to wipe.
