Silver Surfer Vaporizer FAQs

How long does the Silver Surfer take to heat up?

Give it about two minutes after setting the dial. The ceramic element glows orange well before the glass heater cover has soaked up that heat, and each change of setting needs another minute or two.

How do you set a temperature when the dial has no numbers?

Elev8 leaves it unmarked because draw speed varies from person to person. The manual suggests starting near the 1 or 2 o'clock position, then moving in one hour steps on the clock face. The glass knob lifts off so you can refit it pointing at your spot.

Does draw speed really change the vapor?

Yes. Air cools the element as it passes, so a slow draw gives thicker vapor and a fast one gives less. If you get combustion, Elev8 says to turn the heat down or draw faster.

What is the difference between the spherical wand and the conical one?

The spherical joint is the current default, with a bowl Elev8 rates 33 percent larger and a joint that will not seize. It needs the hands free attachment to stay put, while the older conical ground glass wand grips on its own.

Can the Silver Surfer vape concentrates?

Yes. The 17mm ceramic flavor disc in the bag drops into the spherical wand and runs hotter than flower. It has to seal against the bowl, or air travels around it rather than through and the hit is weak. See our guide on concentrates in a dry herb vaporizer.

What does the Silver Surfer warranty cover?

Three years on the electrical parts, with glass covered only briefly and only against manufacturing defects, so accidental breakage is on you. Register within thirty days of purchase, and cover applies to the original buyer only.

Will the Silver Surfer run on 220V mains?

Only if you order it that way. Elev8 builds each unit for its destination, with a 110V cord for North America and 220V cords for Europe, the UK, Australia and Israel. Replacement heaters are voltage specific.

Silver Surfer Vaporizer Cleaning & Maintenance

Everything the vapor touches on the Silver Surfer is glass or vinyl, so residue follows one path: the screen and bowl of the wand, the joint where it meets the heater cover, then the three foot hose and the glass mouthpiece. The cover films up on its own because the wand rests on it at an angle for every draw.

  1. Wait until the glass is genuinely cold. Elev8 asks for at least 30 minutes unplugged before you touch the heater cover, then a hand held above the unit to feel for heat. Anything still coming off it means another 30 minutes.

  2. Lift the cover straight up. A gentle twist and a straight pull is all the current heater stand needs, with at most a slight rock. Stop at any real resistance: glass carries a 30 day warranty here, against three years on the electronics.

  3. Wash the cover away from the unit. The manual calls for mild soap and water, with an isopropyl soak and a pipe cleaner for baked on build up. Dry it fully before refitting: nothing wet should reach the bare ceramic heater underneath, and never pour anything into the housing. Metallic streaks around the base of the cover come from the metal heater stand during factory testing, not damage, and scrubbing will not shift them.

  4. Change screens with the marble pick. Hook the screen and draw it up out of its seat in the bowl, or push it through from the far end with a rod. Refitting is fiddlier: cup it in your palm, hold it against the inside wall, push it down to the bulge of the bowl, then flip it and press the rim in. Restricted airflow is the cue to swap one.

  5. Match the screen size to your wand. Spherical wands from 2019 onward take the 20.8mm yellow pack, older spherical and original hand made wands take 15.8mm blue, conical wands take 14.8mm green, and the 29mm conical takes 25.8mm.

  6. Treat the hose as a consumable. Elev8 uses food grade vinyl at 9.5mm bore rather than silicone, reasoning that vinyl does not pick up oils off your hands. It still clouds, so most owners buy a coil and cut fresh lengths. The glass mouthpiece soaks with the wand.

  7. Flavor disc and aroma top. The ceramic disc holds concentrate in its pores by design, and Elev8 offers two ways back: alcohol, or a torch. Wipe the aroma top before hot oil bakes in and stains it.

The dimmer and heater are owner serviceable behind two base screws and a zip tie. If the unit goes back for repair, send it stripped of glass and free of residue, or Elev8 adds a cleaning charge.
