How does the AroMed 4.0's halogen bulb heat the herb?
A 12 volt UV free halogen bulb sits above the glass chamber, behind a screw glass that carries its heat down. It lights only while you draw, brightening as you pull harder to hold the set temperature, so the chamber stays loaded between draws without reheating.
How long does the AroMed 4.0 take to heat up?
AroMed's own pages disagree, claiming between one minute and three. The Toronto Vaporizer review put it near two minutes to a middling setting, and noted that filling the water vessel and assembling the glass takes longer than the heating.
How much water does the AroMed water filter need?
Fill the glass vessel with roughly 15 mm of water. With coarse material the water can be left out, since the filter mainly stops dust from finely ground herb reaching your lungs. AroMed puts the loss to the water at two to three percent.
Can I use tinctures or oils in the AroMed 4.0?
Yes. AroMed sells a glass foam pellet that absorbs a few drops like a sponge and rests on the steel screen in the herb chamber. It is meant for liquids rather than wax, as our concentrates guide explains.
Why does the AroMed 4.0 have no fan?
Vapor only moves when someone inhales, so nothing escapes between draws and you set your own dose. Everything runs through one hose and the glass vessel is strapped on with a rubber band, so Toronto Vaporizer put the practical limit at four people per load.
What does the AroMed breath valve do?
It is an optional accessory that stops vapor pushing back into the water filter and limits air resistance, helping new users settle on a steady inhalation speed.
What happens if part of the AroMed 4.0 breaks?
Glass is the vulnerable part, and its Canadian dealer excluded it from the three year defect warranty. Every piece is sold separately: water vessel, herb holder, screw glass, hose, rubber band and the halogen bulb, rated at around 2000 hours.
Aromed 4.0 Cleaning & Maintenance
The AroMed 4.0 has no fan, so vapor only moves when you draw on it, and it moves slowly. That gives it a long, cool path to settle along: down through the glass herb holder, through the water in the filter vessel, then up 75 cm of silicone hose to the glass mouthpiece. The water and the hose discolor well before the chamber does.

Empty the water vessel after every session: the glass vessel straps to the body with a rubber band and takes roughly 15 mm of water. Tip it out, rinse it and let it dry rather than leaving it standing. AroMed points out that the water can be skipped entirely with coarse material, since the filter mainly exists to catch dust from finely ground herb.

Part the glass at the ground joint gently: the water vessel and the herb chamber meet at a sanded glass joint. Pressing down hard when you seat the screw glass and bulb on top can wedge the two together. Working a trace of olive oil into the joint before assembly stops it seizing.

Steep the whole glass set at once: the herb holder, water vessel, screw glass and glass mouthpiece all take a soak in isopropyl or a vaporizer cleaning solution. The pieces are bulky, so this needs a wide container rather than a bag. Rinse in hot water afterwards and dry everything fully before reassembly.

Lift out the insert screen: the herb holder carries a 25 mm stainless steel screen that sits under the material. It comes out for soaking and brushing, and AroMed sells it in packs of five, so swap it once the mesh stays dark. The glass foam pad used for oils and tinctures rests on that same screen and saturates over time.

Never touch the halogen bulb with bare fingers: AroMed is explicit about this and says to fit it through a cloth. Skin oils shorten a 50 watt UV free bulb otherwise rated at around 2000 hours. Keep alcohol out of the lamp housing and socket, and clean only the screw glass that shields the bulb and carries its heat down to the chamber.

Wash the hose with water, not solvent: the 75 cm medical grade silicone hose carries every draw and clouds first. Hot water and dish soap, then a full air dry. The glass mouthpiece pushed into its end comes in packs of ten, so replace it rather than scrubbing it thin.
Wipe the housing with a damp cloth only. If you use the breath valve, check it still seals, because its job is to stop vapor pushing back into the water filter.
