What is the Boundless Tera?
The Boundless Tera is a portable vaporizer from the team over at Boundless Technology based in the USA. It leverages convection heating provided by a ceramic heating element to vaporize both dry herbs and concentrates. It is powered by dual 18650 batteries and supports temperatures up to 260°C and warms up in a swift 20-30 seconds, depending on your chosen temperature.
Using the Boundless Tera for the First Time
A card is included in the box with the unit, and it’s important to pay attention to what it suggests to ensure you have the best possible first experience with the Tera. However, this is good advice and something we generally recommend you do with almost all vaporizers as a form of vaporizer burn-off.
When first using the Tera, turn on the device empty, set it to maximum temperature (concentrate mode), and run the device for at least one full cycle. After the unit cools down, take the mouthpiece and give it a good rinse with warm water or wipe it down with some isopropyl alcohol. When you are using another of the included mouthpieces at a later stage, it would be sensible to do the same for those as well. After cleaning your mouthpieces, ensure they are dry before using the device, as water may drip inside the heater and cause damage.
How to Use the Boundless Tera
- Ensure a chamber screen is placed inside the oven and flat at the bottom. Recent Tera V3 models will include one in the chamber by default. This is used to help prevent smaller pieces of material from falling through the bottom screen directly into the heater.
- Load your ground material into the chamber, do not pack firmly to ensure sufficient airflow through the material. Alternatively, place a very small amount of concentrate on the included concentrate pad and place that in the heating chamber.
- Ensure the device is charged, and press the largest button five times in quick succession to turn on the device.
- Press the largest button quickly three times to switch between concentrate (max temp) or dry herb (adjustable temp) modes.
- Adjust to the desired temperature using the two smaller buttons on the sides of the device.
- Hold the primary button for three seconds to trigger heating. The device will briefly vibrate when your set temperature is reached in a few seconds enabling you to begin inhaling via the mouthpiece.
- Press the power button five times to turn the device off after completing your session.

Is the Boundless Tera Well Built?
The design of the Tera is quite nice. It feels like a well-built unit and has this satisfying weight to it. The housing is covered in this rather nice rubberized material, though it does start to look a bit dirty quickly as it can easily attract fingerprints and the like. As for the groves on either side and the bottom of the device, while they look great are quite the magnets for little bits of dust that can be annoying for those that are a little fickle about such things, but it’s a minor gripe that most won’t be bothered by at all.
The two included mouthpieces are magnetic, which is pleasant, and the water pipe adapter pressure fits with a silicon o-ring which seems like a logical approach. When removing the WPA after use, it is sensible to twist softly rather than bend and jerk as it does fit quite firmly, but if you’re not too rough, it should hold up reasonably well under extended use.
The battery compartment is nicely isolated, and the batteries don’t seem too warm during use, which is always a good sign. Furthermore, unlike many similar types of battery compartments that use a type of spring pressure mechanism, getting the batteries in and out is problem free, which is great for those looking to swap batteries while on the move.
The display is perfectly legible, again a bit of a fingerprint magnet, but most are, to be fair. Even though the firmware is pretty minimal in terms of customization, they have added some nice little touches, like being able to flip the display by just pressing the positive/up button three times during use. Haptic feedback also feels fine and is used sensibly to show that the set temperature has been reached, something that was oddly implemented in the recent Boundless CFX+ which was a tad quirky.
Is the Boundless Tera Portable?
While the Tera has a bit of heft about it, you should have no problem in the portability department unless you’re coming from pen vapes or similar that have an extremely minimal form factor. So while it might be a little heavy in a pocket, in a bag or in your hand should be no problem when taking your Tera on the move.
How much does the Boundless Tera Cost?
The Tera retails for around $200 but can likely be picked up for a little less here and there on sale if you shop around. When looking at the price of the Tera, it's crucial to look at the complete package, as you’re getting quite a lot included with the unit. Between the two included mouthpieces, a concentrate pad, and a relatively nice quality water pipe adapter, most of these things are often sold as optional accessories with other portable vaporizers, which skews things a little more than usual towards the Tera if they are things you’ll use. When you factor in the two included 18650s, which seem to be of reasonable quality, you can see this eating into the cost quite a bit, though most units do include batteries.
For the price, the Tera is pretty good value, there’s not much to fault about the price point, and if you can find it on sale, you might be able to score an excellent little bargain.
Can you use the Boundless Tera with a Water Pipe?
The included water pipe adapter (WPA). It supports multiple-size connectors (including the most popular 14mm and 18mm). It is even invertible as it can be unscrewed and screwed together the other way around, which is pretty damn cool and a nice little addition if you need to attach it to stems that wouldn’t otherwise work. However, while the adapter looks great and has this additional functionality, a glass WPA would have been nice, but it was likely due to the weight of the Tera that perhaps this was understandably avoided. Overall though, the included Boundless Tera WPA is a welcome addition, and it’s great to see it included and not as an optional upsell.
Is the Boundless Tera Easy to Clean?
Cleaning the Tera is relatively problem free and is rather easy with the help of some alcohol wipes/alcohol prep pads. Of course, you can also use q-tips dipped in isopropyl, but be sure to avoid dripping any alcohol into the heater. There are no significant roadblocks when cleaning the device, and everything you’ll need to clean separates into its individual parts relatively easily.
How to Clean the Boundless Tera
To clean the plastic mouthpiece, carefully bend the silicon underneath until you have access to remove the metal screen. With a bit of care, the silicon can be separated from the rest of the mouthpiece though this isn’t a necessity. You can clean all mouthpiece parts with isopropyl alcohol at this stage. Access right into the plastic mouthpiece can be a little fiddly, so you may find pipe cleaners useful for this or a prep pad and a small stir tool to move it around inside. Cleaning the glass mouthpiece is a similar process. However, due to its design, it’s a little easier to reach all the areas that come into contact with vapor.
When cleaning the water pipe adapter, it can be unscrewed in two different places, enabling good access to all its surfaces. Then, just separate all the parts and wipe them down as well.
Cleaning the chamber is quite easy as well. Start by dusting out the chamber with the included brush to remove any larger loose debris. Following that, just give the chamber screen a clean with some isopropyl and then wipe down the oven walls while avoiding dripping alcohol into the heater and certainly not submerging the device.
Avoid getting any alcohol on the housing of the Tera as it may cause damage to the finish (and this isn’t covered under warranty), but this isn’t something you should find yourself wanting to do anyway, as it will stay relatively clean. A damp cloth will suffice to freshen it up if it gets a bit dusty or dirty over time.
Once everything is clean, ensure you wait for everything to dry before reassembling and using the Tera again. Additionally, after cleaning, it’s also a good idea to let it heat up and run empty for a few minutes to make absolutely sure no residual alcohol remains before you begin using it again as usual.
Can the Boundless Tera Produce Good Vapor?
The Tera is more than capable of producing some great vapor. While it produces a reasonable level of nuance in vapor taste, this can be lost as you creep higher in temperature, but this is always expected to a degree, so if you’re someone who values flavor, start a little lower than you would usually vape and work your way up to find a sweet spot.
At higher temperatures, the Tera can really start kicking out some clouds, but it does get rather warm, and neither of the included mouthpieces does an incredible job of tamping this beyond a certain point (around 210°C). However, this is where the water pipe adapter included with the unit really shines. If you’re someone that wants to push this thing, slap it on a water piece, and you’ll likely have a very nice experience.
Something a few Tera owners seem to be doing to increase the smoothness at higher temps is to be removing the silicon from one of the included mouthpieces and placing a stem from the Arizer Solo 2 or other vaporizers that support compatible stems such as the Arizer Air Max into the silicon. These stems conveniently fit snuggly into the silicon, enabling you to use them with your Tera. So if you have some old Arizer stems lying around, this might be worth testing out for yourself as it extends the vapor path and can produce cooler vapor at more intense temperatures.
Is the Boundless Tera Good for Microdosing
The Boundless Tera is very much a convection vaporizer at its core. As a result, the chamber doesn’t get crazy hot and seems to cool off relatively quickly. With a fairly quick warm up as well, this makes it fairly useful for microdosing. You shouldn’t have much of an issue loading it up at the start of your day and firing it up for a quick rip here and there over the space of the day, then just turning it off until you’re ready to go again.
While many devices are capable of this to some degree, the Tera is relatively well-suited, especially with the secondary chamber screen that further isolates the loaded material from the heater under the bottom of the chamber. Furthermore, given the convection heating used by the Tera, you can get away with even minimal packs; though extraction will be a little less efficient, it will be sufficient for most.
Does the Boundless Tera have Good Battery Life?
The battery life of the Tera is best described as fine. It’s not bad at around an hour of run time on a full charge. Still, given the dual 18650s and fairly long charge time (approximately 2.5 hours), it does feel like there’s a little efficiency lost somewhere, or the included batteries are a little overrated in their capacity. So you may find you can wring a little extra time by adding in some higher capacity cells; just be sure you are buying genuine and high-quality batteries that are sufficient for the device.
In short, battery life is reasonable, just not exceptional. However, it’s worth remembering that the batteries are user swappable, so if you grab an extra set and a battery case, it’s not too hard to have a spare set ready to go if you’re finding you’re chewing through more power than you have available between access to a charger.
Can you use Concentrates with the Boundless Tera?
You can use concentrates with the Tera, and everything you need to use concentrates with this vaporizer is included with the unit. A concentrate pad is included, and a concentrate mode is built into the device’s firmware enabling you to dive right into vaping concentrates. While it won’t replace a high-end e-rig or something more aggressively suited to concentrate use, it can still perform quite well if you like to take your time when enjoying your wax, rosin, and other concentrates. So for those more casual concentrate users, it’s a great addition.
Is the Boundless Tera Good for Beginners?
One of the problems for those new to vaping is you aren’t always sure what you want. For example, do you want something that enables you to use it with a water pipe? Perhaps you want something you can use concentrates with as well. Are you unsure if you’d prefer a glass mouthpiece? In any case, the Boundless Tera covers a lot of bases and is pretty easy to use at the same time, making it a rather approachable choice for beginners. Furthermore, as you’re getting quite a bit for the price, this makes it a little easier to suggest to someone just looking to get their feet wet, but who doesn’t mind spending a little more than the bare minimum.
Boundless Tera Pros
- Heaps of flexibility right out of the box
- Fast heat up (20-30 seconds)
- Feels great in the hand
- Swappable 18650 batteries
Boundless Tera Cons
- No USB-C (only Micro-USB)
- Battery life could be better

Is the Boundless Tera Worth Buying?
While there is no perfect vaporizer for everyone, the Tera is quite interesting as it ticks many boxes across the board. Additionally, it manages to produce a somewhat comparable vaping experience to some other portable vaporizers with a significantly higher price point. While it doesn’t ace everything, it puts up a strong enough showing it’s hard to ignore. So, if you’re looking for a portable convection vaporizer that can cover most of your bases for a reasonable price, the Tera could be a good fit for you.
