How long does the VapBong need to preheat?

Art of Vapor calls for 10 to 15 minutes at full power, since the solid ceramic needs that long to warm through, then a minute at your chosen setting for the coil to settle. It can be left running continuously.

What voltage should you set on the VapBong?

There is no temperature readout, only a variable supply of roughly 7 to 12 volts. Art of Vapor suggests 10.0 to 10.5 for flower and 10.5 to 11.0 for hash, though coil resistance varies between handmade units. More on flower temperatures.

How much water does the VapBong take, and can it run dry?

Art of Vapor gives a method, not a volume: draw with the herb chamber off and check that no water slops to the rim of the chillum, which would wet your material. TVape settled around 150mL. Dry use works, with warmer vapor.

How much material does the VapBong bowl hold?

Anything from a pinch to around 2.5 grams, and TVape found it copes with herb ground or unground. Art of Vapor advises stirring after a few draws with a small stick such as a toothpick.

Is the VapBong practical for group use?

What is most likely to fail on the VapBong?

Very little moves, and both our review and TVape single out the power supply as the weak link. Art of Vapor sold a spare transformer for 19.90 euro, and an ordinary variable supply substitutes easily. The handmade ceramic cannot be replaced.

Can you still buy a VapBong or get spares?

Art of Vapor's shop is offline, so there is no first party ordering or spares channel at present. The accessory list only ever ran to a filling dish, a spare transformer and a pack of ten steel screens.

VapBong Cleaning & Maintenance

Almost all of the VapBong's residue lands in two places: the steel screen inside the removable ceramic herb chamber, and the chillum that carries vapor down into the water. The wide ceramic body has so much internal surface area that it takes a long time to film up, though its shape makes it awkward to reach once it does.

Change the water daily: Art of Vapor's own advice is that fresh water every day keeps the vaporizer clean for a long stretch. If you only use it occasionally, tip the body out after a session instead of leaving water standing in the ceramic.
Lift the herb chamber off whenever the heater is switched off: this is the one habit the manufacturer flags as a mistake to avoid. With the power off, moisture from the water below rises through the chamber and reaches the heating coil, where it causes corrosion and damage. Set the chamber beside the device. Left powered, the VapBong is built to run continuously with the chamber in place.
Burn the screen clean rather than replacing it: the steel screen clogs before anything else. A lighter clears it, and a jet lighter does the job faster. Art of Vapor states plainly that the screens do not need exchanging, and sells them in packs of ten only for people who want spares on hand. Isopropyl on a cotton bud works as a gentler alternative.
Keep two bottle brushes: a large one reaches inside the ceramic body and the water chamber, and a slightly smaller one handles the herb chamber and the downstem. Those are the tools the manufacturer names, and the narrow percolated chillum is where a brush really earns its place.
Use whatever cleaner you have: glazed ceramic is not fussy. The instructions allow hot or even boiling water together with isopropyl, washing powder, or baking soda and vinegar. Rinse thoroughly so nothing carries into the next session.
Keep liquid away from the heater ball: the coil and the power lead sit in the smaller sphere. A wipe with a damp cloth on the outside is all it should ever get.

When you refit the herb chamber, check it from underneath. If any white ceramic edge is visible instead of colored glaze, it is not seated properly, and you will get thin vapor with darkly charred spots on the material. The power supply is the component most likely to fail over the years, and it is ordinary enough that a replacement is easy to source.
