The OG Brick has no electronics, so everything needing attention is glass, stainless or wood. Vapor condenses inside the glass mouthpiece, resin settles into the screen at the base of the chamber, and the outside of the glass heat intake collects soot from the torch flame. The wooden bricks dictate the whole routine, because Sticky Brick Labs rules out alcohol on them completely.
-
Separate the three bricks. Hold the large brick in one hand and twist the two smaller bricks to break the magnetic connection, then slide them clear of the stainless steel sleeve and twist them apart. That exposes the chamber, the inner ledge and the screen.
-
Lift out the glass and o-rings. The mouthpiece and the flame intake each seat into wood on an o-ring. Remove them before cleaning anything. The OG runs three o-ring sizes, large, medium and small, and the replacement pack sold for it holds two of each. In our review the mouthpiece o-ring on the tested unit slipped out of position when the mouthpiece was rotated, so check its seating on reassembly.
-
Soak the glass in isopropyl. The manufacturer's instruction is that glass components and screens come out of the Brick and get cleaned with ISO as needed. The mouthpiece and flame intake are hand blown Simax borosilicate and take a soak fine. Rinse in warm water and dry them fully before they go back.
-
Keep alcohol off the wood. The manual limits wooden parts to a cotton swab and warm water, followed by thorough drying. Never soak or submerge a brick. Treat them the way you would a wooden pipe, with a damp swab and light friction.
-
Replace a clogged screen. Stainless screens ship in six packs and fit every Sticky Brick, with titanium sold the same way. When one stops rinsing clean, swap it rather than working at it.
-
Clean the restrictor disc with the intake. The 316 stainless disc sits inside the flame intake brick, flat side up and cylinder down towards the bowl. On some earlier units with a smaller intake hole it is flipped, cylinder pointing up.
-
Rebuild o-rings first. Sticky Brick Labs specifies inserting o-rings into the wood before the glass for the best seal.
Condition the wood roughly monthly with Sticky Brick Butter, the only finish the company approves for its bodies: a few drops polished along the grain with a soft cloth, left a few minutes, then wiped clear of excess. Brush the chamber out after sessions and strip it fully every week or two. Wood carries a lifetime warranty, glass only fifteen days, so handle the two glass pieces with the most care.
